It is pagan.Has nothing to do with christianity.
Now many christians say it symbolises life, adn that the various lights on the tree also has a meaning.I think that they made that up to justify the polution of christianity.

Ah, I know this. In Germany it started as a pagan symbol but later it was thought that because of it's triangular shape it represented the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
