It means 'Good night, love'
Cariad means love, loved one, darling, etc...
To reply, you can also say 'Nos da, cariad' or... 'Cysgu'n dda' (or Cysgwch yn dda, depending on who you're talking to!).

You could reply: "Nos da i ti hefyd. Cwsg yn dawel!"
(Or "nos da i chi hefyd. Cwsgwch yn dawel" if it is a much older person). That means "Good night to you too. Sleep well!"
