I have been taking hair supplements for the past 3 years and here is what I have found.
ProCaps labs makes a great supplement called "Hair Skin and Nails" formula, here is the link for that
http://www.procapslabs.com/pcl/pages/pro...
This is in capsule form and easy to swallow. This company, ProCaps labs is also extremely reputable and carries pure and effective products.
I took GNC's Nourishair for four months, and supplemented it with extra Biotin tablets daily due to its low Biotin content. I took 2500 micrograms extra Biotin with the GNC pills.
The Procaps hair vites have 2500 micrograms of Biotin in them, and don't really require extra Biotin be taken, but I do take an additional 2500 micrograms of Biotin for a daily total of 5000 micrograms of Biotin.
My hair is growing in thick and dark and quite quickly. My hair used to be very slow growing, but all of these supplements have really made a difference.
The only way to really change the health of your hair is by taking supplements that work internally on the follicle where hair is made, any shampoos or oils or other topically applied things do nothing to change hair's structure, that can only happen with systemically provided support, which means supplements that you take internally.. Keep in mind, regardless of how many or how much you take of any supplement, hair is never going to grow at a "Jack and the beanstalk" type of rate, the most you can hope for is to improve the strength and health of each hair follicle and to see an incremental increase in the rate of its growth

Okay what u want 2 do for the silky shiny effect is keep your hair very moisturized but not over moisturized because then u will have a head full of oil and that sometimes can cause flaking but use a lightweight moisturizer about 1 very 3 days like olive oil or panteen things like that also an important tip to silky shiny hair is wash your hair one time per week or once every two weeks and when you condition your hair use a moisturizing conditioner and leave it on 4 about 15-30 minutes this seals and looks in moisture causing the hair 2 build a humidity shield against Water and stay soft silky and shiny and 4 even better results sit under the dryer with the conditioner on and rinse it out about 15-30 minutes later this helps 2 & make sure 2 keep your edges trimmed and take very good care of your hair that's what makes it healthy keep any Alcohol hair products or gels off the hair no spritz or anything were looking 4 shine and healthy roots not dryness and flakes

• Massage your hair with warm almond oil. Apply 5 tablespoons of honey on the scalp and hair. Put on a warm towel on your head, as if it were a turban. Let it set for an hour. Shampoo and condition your hair as usual. Use a cold water rinse (this closes hair shafts, makes hair shiny, and lessens the chance of breakage and split ends).
• Add natural oils like avocado, coconut, jojoba or olive oil to your hair. This can be a great conditioning regime to do prior to shampooing the hair.
• Place any of the above mentioned oils into the hair and place the hair in a bun for about 20 minutes. You can even wrap your hair under a plastic cap covered by a heat cap for added conditioning. You'll find that your hair will be more revived and manageable.
• You can also use other natural ingredients like apple cider vinegar to get rid of dandruff and dry scalp.
• Beat an egg in a cup of skimmed milk. When the foam becomes consistent, rub it into the scalp. Leave it on for 5 minutes. Rinse the hair thoroughly with water. Carry out this routine twice a week.
