When my children learned to climb out of it. I got a toddler bed frame and put their mattress on it. Most come with a guardrail. I would rather my child sleep and crawl out of a toddler bed then fall over the top of a crib and break their bones.

My daughter went from a crib to a toddler bed at 2 1/2 years old. She's done well with it.
We told her for about 2 weeks beforehand about moving into a "big girl bed" and got her excited about it, so she was totally up for the move and we've had no problems.

My two and a half year old is still in a cot (crib). With the rail up she hasn't attempted to climb it as of yet. We have been discussing getting her a bed maybe when she turns three sometime. But it all depends on whether you think your child can get out of it. Its when your ready so take your time, your little one might not be ready yet you will see the signs when they will be ready. Good luck.

We put our kids in theirs when they were about two, maybe two and a half. When they started to climb out of the crib.Just to be safe,we used side rails on the toddler bed so they wouldnt fall out.

My 2 year old is still in her cot. I'm going to wait until she attempts to try to get out of the cot. She still has the side railing down and all.
I've heard from a couple of people to wait until they try to climb out or until they are too small for the cot. I'm going to try when she is about 2 1/2 or 3. It all depends.

As long as shes able to climb onto furniture, like the couch, then its time to change it. She'll like the fact that she has a new bed and she'll feel like a big girl!
