Because ur son knows only mummy and daddy. Kindly do not compare with other children. If he is eating properly, and is fit and helthy then no problem, it varies from one child to other child, he will only pickup in his talk, kindly do not use any medicines, etc because it may cause any side effects, because talking should come automatically but not forced one

Sometimes this is normal, it really depends on the child; however, when my daughter was two, I noticed other things than her speech delay. Like she would not look at me when I called her name and her back was to me. She would be looking at my lips when I talked not my eyes. Little things like that, so I had her EARS checked, she had water in her inner ear and she just could not hear to be learning how to speak, her condition was corrected with antibiotics, though sometimes they need to get tubes in their ears. As for a speech evaluation, I would think it is not that serious yet, maybe if when he is five and still not talking. But taking him to the doctor and discussing your concerns is the best advice anyone can give.

On average, children have a 50 word spoken vocabulary and use 2-word utterances at age two. There can be several reasons his speech is delayed, including hearing loss.
Ask his doctor for a prescription for speech and hearing evaluations.
Frequently, kids with speech delay later have learning problems. He needs intervention now to give him a leg-up. Speech delay will also affect him socially, so take care of it now!

See a doctor. My son was talking before age 1. Ask for a developmental test. My nephew was a late talker. He pointed at what he wanted. They ignored it and at the age of 5 they found out he couldn't hear out of one ear. He had to have alot of speech therapy.

I agree with 5kidsmom, take him to the doctor but try not to worry too much. He can obviously speak so maybe he just don't want to or he's a thinker !

Just do not worry. Every thing is going to be fine! Albert Einstein was also a late speaker. He shrugged the world.
All the best. God is great.

Have him checked by a speech pathologist to see if there is anything physically wrong with him.

If there isn't, I wouldn't worry too much about it... kids will talk when they're ready... and when they do start talking, you will wish there is a mute button ! :)

Not normal in development for his age. Ask your doctor for a referral for a speech evaluation.

All three of my boys had speech delays. Call you doctor and have him evaluated by a speech pathologist, but do not worry about it.
