Yes, and along with just about every other secular song out there.
Songs are not "just songs". They are 5 minutes of advertising of the songwriter's message or philosophy. And it works. Do you have any idea at how much music and song's philosophies have influenced society? You can almost single handedly blame secular music for the rise in teen pregnancy, std's, gang related crimes and drug use. Of course, many other influences go into causing those things, but music is one of the main culprits.
The lyrics of Stairway to Heaven in particular are talking about the "piper" who is symbolic of the devil. It is describing the choice a woman makes to follow him.
As a songwriter myself, I understand how much work and effort goes into making a song. Very few songs are made without serious contemplation on the lyrics. I don't know anyone that would write a song about something they don't believe in. People are connected emotionally to the songs they write because they feel like they express their beliefs and opinions in an artistic format. Why would someone write a song about something they don't want to be associated with? I mean, I would never write a song about killing people because I think that's a horrible thing to do. Other's don't believe the same way and have no qualms about promoting murder, sex, satan, etc.

A great song by Christian songwriter Phil Keaggy called "True believers" has a verse in there that says "Heaven is one stairway that can't be bought". That is a direct retort to Led Zepplin's famous song.

There was a study done on backmasking and there is a satanic message on Stairway to Heaven if you play it backwards. I forget exactly what it says, but it doesn't really matter. The lyrics are satanic enough without hidden messages.

If you purchase a documentary on Rock and Roll called "Hells Bells" by Reel to Reel Ministries, you will be quite impressed at their research done on music. They tried to do it in a non biased format and just pointed out some truths you should know about the music you listen to.
You can buy the video from Amazon.com or Reel to Reel for about $50. I don't recommend Hells Bells 2. It wasn't done as well as part 1 and was quite a bit longer.

You might be able to rent it from a Christian bookstore if they have a copy or from a video rental service, but I don't know. They did disect Stairway to Heaven and played a clip of the backmasking. When you play it backwards, the message is very clear and there's no mistaking what it says.

There is not any ssatanic message on Stairway to Heaven. It's only a accident that at a few factor should you play it backwards it variety of sounds find it irresistible practically would sound like Satan-if that's what you relatively wish to listen to. Oddly the equal phenomenon happens with are living recordings. I do not suppose that would were performed on intent. Oh and Lennon does not say " I buried Paul" he says, "I'm very bored."

maybe. it does seem like you can hear things like satan when backmasking the song. i find it hard to believe just because the words seem random and incoherent, and a little too hard to make out to have been done on purpose.

I have recorded some of my own stuff and when i play it bacwards, you could if you really wanted to associate noise sequences with familiar words quite easily. Ive heard the zeppelin songs played backwards and although its a little eerie, i think if it had been done on purpose, the actual song's lyrics would be distorted somewhat so that we could hear the reversal more clearly.
