35 years ago while on a business trip to Kaoishung - Taiwan, I took dog meat cooked in herbal soup during the cold season in December. It was sold openly in some back streets. I never had another opportunity to try it again. I never forget that meal till today. Another wacky food was "Balot" ( embryo with fine hair of chicks) - in Philippine. It look scary but taste good.

Baalut in the Phillipines. An egg, which contains the ducklin or chick. It is basically a hatchling, so almost full grown. The way you eat it is to make a hole at the top of the egg and drink out the juice, then peel off the shell and eat the whole thing, egg and hatchling. In the middle is a hard stone like substance which you DO NOT eat.
It took a lot of courage on my part to eat it. But I did so with a lot of beer inside me first. I cannot say I enjoyed it that much.

I have also had Fugu in Japan. But I do not feel I should mention that, because I enjoyed it.

Bulls testicales. In Riga, Latvia in September. In a restaurant called Cao Rasma, the item was called "Mama raud, meita raud!" This means mother cries, daughter cries. I should think the bull was crying too! Interesting, but not for the faint hearted.

A turtle, cooked like stew.

I was tricked by a friend that it was only beef and I should try it out. So I did, but I can never forget the way I tried to swallow it. Its meat was cold. By the time I learned it was a poor turle, it felt like it was trying to climb up my throat and escape.

I understand in Montana they have a rocky mountain oyster festival........I heard it advertised on the radio..........They said come on over, you'll have a ball!
