I think some may not like the USMC because almost ALL of the Marines I have met have an air of what I will call arrogance about them. Maybe it has to do with their training, being told that they are a select few, and forced fed the Marine ideology everyday. that is not a bad thing. You just have to make allowances for them and love em in spite of that attitude. I know I feel safe, loved, and honored when I am with my Marine. I would not trade him for a million dollars. I think as a Marine you just need to learn to temper that arrogance with some humility and understanding for us poor folk and you will fit right in. (wink) I know there is no one I would rather have at my side or back during a fight than a Marine and I know that if a Marine tells me he is going to do something, he will. For If a Marine does not have his honor, then he is not much of a Marine. Stand tall, look life straight in the eye, go for the ride of your life.

it's like msfyrebyr...said we have an air of arrogance about us. I've been out for a while now and i still have that same air about me. but i don't think the marines did that to me though. what i think people don't like are the ones who think that they can whip everyone and anyone a s s . which as you know isn't true just because someone made it through boot camp.but just the same they instill the thought that if you run fast enough you can go through a brick wall.
i enjoy the company of a fellow Marine because no matter what we all share the brotherhood of being in the corp. but watch out and question people who say they were in the corp because there are a lot who claim to have been in but are only lieing.
the few the proud so why not let others know it just not in such a strong manner

Once you get past the service rivalries there is a lot of respect for people in other services. Many of the younger Marines I have met are arrogant - but the senior ones have more professionalism.
But what it all boils down to is that we are all on the same side and we can all count on each other - no matter what service we are in.
But I do wish that Army could win at least one Army-Navy game.

The Marine Corps has a tradition of respect and honor dating back for 231 years. We are the few, the proud...
The Marine Corps was for me the defining part of my young adult life. The confidence and strength of character that the Marine Corps instilled in me then have supported me throughout the rest of my life. It's not an arrogance, per se; it's believing that whatever life throws at you, you can handle it. If at first you don't succeed; Improvise! Adapt! Overcome!
We live in a society that has taught many people to believe that nothing is their fault or their responsibility; that they can always find someone or something to blame for their misfortunes and their failures.
The Marine Corps gave me the strength to face my responsibilities, fair or otherwise, without playing the "blame game", and the belief that there is no such thing as a good excuse. If one is willing and able to accept the praise and accolades of success he (or she) must also be willing to accept the responsibilities and penalties for failure. We must, each of us, be responsible for our choices and our actions, our deeds and our misdeeds.
Over the many years of my life I have had my share of successes and setbacks, and of moments proud and embarassing. The time I spent in the Marine Corps will always be, for me, some of the proudest times of my life.

I am VERY PROUD to be a marine, The only time I have ever had a probelm was during the war after I came home. People egged my car because it had military plates and marine corp stickers. BUT I don't care I will always be proud to be a MARINE.

Some people are ungrateful anti war weirdos.
And some people refuse to see that America dosen't need a Marine Corps...it WANTS one.
You can join the other branches if you don't want to be the best.

Being retired Navy, we had our friendly hate. But one of my best friends on active duty was a Marine. There are people that hate something everywhere, I usually just blow them off, their not worth the time to kick their butts.
