I asked a similar question to this yestarday, unfortunetly i'm very new to yahoo q+a and thought i could post a reply to the replies i got to clarify any unclear points people made (only to later find out i can't :(). So anyway, here goes, should be my last question on straighteners and the like XD

Someone told me if i put wax and hair freeze spray in my hair and then straighten over it, it'll damage the hair more - is this true? - I already understand the damage the straighteners themselves have on hair from the questions i asked yestarday ;o i'd just like to specifcally know if straightening over these two products hurts the hair more or not. It honestly doesn't make sense to me as to why it would, but i'm very new to it all and just wanted to be 100% sure :)

There is no reason why using a straightener over these two products would damage the hair. But what is the purpose of using of these products? Your hair will most certainly be flat, dry and stiff. What will damage your hair is lack of moisture..so using too much heat with products that are drying will result in damage, no doubt.

Most stylists use a spritz when straightening and a wax on the edges when they've finished straightening to keep flyaways down and keep the edges smooth. I think what would work best for you is a pressing creme. Do a google search to compare the different pressing cremes available. Off the top of my head I think Dudley's has one.

GOOD LUCK!

Honestly, I dont know if it harms the hair, but I use them differently and don't have a problem.

I iron my hair and flip out the ends.

I then put a dime size amount in my hand and then put the freeze wax on the tip of my hair.

I add more flip to my hair by flipping it out more with my waxy hands.

Hair spray it and I am done.

I dont see any reason why you would need or have the idea to iron over waxed hair. It doesnt make sense.
