It is for my anthropology clas i need to come up with a thesis statement for a research paper! help

I think it started with special sounds for special members of the group, probably starting with mother and children - females still have more brain area for language than males; and the innate urge to make sense of everything, even if there isn't any, must have led (in time) to ascribing sounds to things as well.

The hunting theory does not sound convincing to me. To plan a hunt, you need developed language already, and any wild hunting animal will make no noise during the hunt, for obvious reasons.

First there were sounds.... then men attributed sounds to objects. it was a great step forward, the idea of a genius.... someone decided that this thing which had branches and leaves should be designated by the sound "TREE". then some other genious decide to represent the sound tree by a little drawing and they invented the alphabet. no for the rest have your imagination work a little bit, it is 3am and I am tired and need a sleep. People had to communicate so they slowly started naming things and developing the language...
People in different parts of the world obviously referred to objects differently and that's how different languages came about...
