Poligamy is nothing then legalized adultery invented by men to suit their lustfull needs.. God when He created Adam and Eve ,He didnt create 2,3 or 4 Eve for Adam becouse these was not Gods plan . God wanted that Adam and Eve love eachother . ( LOVE is the first condition of a marriage). Those who accept poligamy are leaded astray from Gods perfect plan No woman on this earth can be happy that her husband is sleeping with another woman or women unless she dont love her husband . Poligamy is the breaking of the Marriage Holy Law of God .

I know someone who has an open marriage, which is the closest thing I can personally come to as far as having any experience with someone who has more than one mate. Her husband seems very happy. She, however, has very low self-esteem and is constantly feeling unloved and unlovable. But, she is an American and also an Agnostic. So, maybe the cultural differences between Islam and American Agnostics makes the difference. You didn't mention if the Muslim woman was happy with her situation or not. So, it's hard for me to answer. But, maybe they find some security in not being the only one to be responsible for the husband. Or, maybe they are miserable, like my friend. But, I definitely think that polygamy in the USA, like in the offshoot groups of Mormons, is very damaging to a woman's mind. I saw a documentary once about it and all of the women spoke about how very difficult it is dealing with the hierarchy of wives, the jealousy, the children, etc. So, for me, I would never accept my husband having another wife. If he wanted two or more women, I'd just leave. Peace.

I'm a Muslim and i dont know of one person in a polygamous marriage. Polygamy has to have valid reasons and has to be agreed to by the first wife. You have to remember in the prophets time many villages where left with a shortage of men due to battles etc. It was honorable to take another wife. It was a very important thing for women to be a wife and a mother and to be denied that due to a lack of men was a sad thing. If a man took a second wife it gave her the right to have children and enjoy the gift of being a mother. Allah knows what is in every ones heart. There is not much polygamy about in Islam today simply because there are enough men to go round. It was better for a Muslim woman to be a second wife to a Muslim man than for her to marry a non Muslim man. The first wife would see this as a noble act for her Muslim sister. But like i said it does not really apply today as there are plenty of wonderful Muslim men.

Women and Men are both human beings. We feel, love and hurt the same way, so I don't think that it is beneficial for women unless you are willing to look at marriage as a contract or agreement of sorts. But if you are looking for emotional fulfillment as well, then Polygamy is not the answer.

Personally, I do know a few people who live like that, but they're not Islamic. I feel that whatever they want to do, fine, it's their life. It's not my place to say what is right and wrong for another person, I just know it's not for me.

In short, YES, better for the society.
Reasons are clear as the female to male ratio is more in almost all the countries, so the females are mole likely to be single than man (or in other terms used like a public property), better they get married rather than single or used as a public property.

lol.... ok let me put it this way... there's not a chance in hell I'd ever allow another woman in my relationship. Call me selfish, I don't really care. Monogamy is the only way to go and if he thinks otherwise, I'll kick his ***.
