I am so very sad for you. My Grandmother suffered from Alzheimers disease, so I can empathise with you.
There is a product called Glyconutrients that is one of the new things that some people are selling, that they are saying helps alzheimer's. I am quite skeptical about it though.
There is a website you can go to to search for new information about new alternative treatments:
http://www.curezone.com
This is all I have for you. I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

There is no cure, not yet. My dad has Alzheimer's and he's part of a study at Yale University to test new Alzheimer's drugs. The head of the study told us that there will be a cure within 5-10 years (too late to help my dad, but hopefully will help someone else's dad).
There are many good prescription drugs on the market which slow the disease down. If you know someone with AD, encourage them to take at least one of these drugs.

Alzheimer's Disease is the gradual degeneration of brain tissue. This destruction causes memory loss, inability to care for oneself, confusion, agitation among many others. Unfortunately, there's no cure for this disease. The disease also becomes worse as time goes on. If a person has mild dementia, chances are it's only going to get worse. I've heard of vitamins and such as a preventative measure, but as far as I know, nothing is proven. I'm in the US, so I don't know the answer to your second question.
