...has a mind of her own and is a 'strong' woman?
If you'd go for the second one, then why do you think so many men seemed to want the first in a woman in the past?
And why would anyone feel ok about marrying a woman who probably didn't love them (since the women didn't have any say in it really)?
Just trying to understand how the past came about at all...

'there were few divorces in the past' - because divorce wasn't actually allowed maybe?! And because marital rape was allowed? And wife-beating? Hm, sounds reaaal cosy...

I guess in the past they went for the first type because life was much harder, they did not have the machines and tools to make their work and life easier, and by the time they got home, all they wanted was rest, relaxation and nice treatment. A strong woman who has a mind of her own would probably wait for her husband to have a proper discussion about whichever subject and would have enough information and personality to argue, and at these times that's not what a man needed after a long day of hard work.

Men in the past were more at ease then men nowadays, there were few divorces in the past now there are many and women in the past started loving their husbands after marriage not before marriage, now you never know whether that strong women is loving 2 men at a same time.

In the past and in some cultures still today, men just want a woman for sex and to be a baby factory and take care of the man like a house-elf. She is a non-person. He has male friends for companionship. Thank God I live in this century and in the U.S.

Are you my ex?!!
I have seen many women who describe themselves thusly.....
"strong woman with a mind of her own" who were, in fact, domineering, resentful, bitter and wrong.
The woman in my life loves me dearly, admires my intellect, is sweet and adoring.and I love it..Our opinions differ on a few things.and thats fine. Her opinions are her own.
I never knew a woman to marry a man she didn't love unless there were ulterior motives on her part.
Give me a woman who fawns over me and adores me. For debate, give me Gloria Steinem or some other militant ingrate
(like my ex!)
I hope this was helpful . Find a nice conservative man, you'll find true love and happiness.

Being married to the latter, one would desire a bit more of the first, really.

Well in French we call that sort of question "mental masturbation".
But I doubt it is going to give you an orgasm... Bummer !!!

neither, i don't want one beefed up on femenist egotism, but i don't want someone who won't stand up for themselves. i want someone who can swallow their pride, but can tactfully put me in my place when i step over the line.
