If you want to go somewhere off the beaten tourist path, hit Gyron! It is wonderful anytime of the year. There is an outstanding hostel there (the place is so small it won't be hard to find, plus it is the only hostel there) There are a variety of activities from wine tasting, chocolate tasting, fondue parties, rock climbing, skiing, and thermal baths!

I found much of Switzerland to be quite touristy, but this place was wonderful. When we arrived, we planned on staying 2 days and stayed 2 weeks!

Go to Interlaken. It's touristy, but really beautiful. Specially if you have time to see a small beautiful villages by the lake surroundings. If you like old towns and beutiful eropean buildings, go to Solothurn or Basel.

I personally like Bern. The most beautiful city in Switzerland. It's hilly, dynamic, and pretty.

But the most popular travel place in Switzerland, could be Lucerne.

This is not easy to answer since it also depends winter or summer. Well the beautyful swiss alps are a great hit in both seasons. In summer a favourite is Lucerne and central Switzerland, the Rhine-Falls,the french part with it's vineyards and Geneva,Montreux etc.

If you plan to go to Lucern, definitely include Mt. Titlis in your itinerary. It's amazing - you'll see the scenery gradually change from green forest to 10,000 ft. icy glacier as the cable cars ascend. I guarantee it's worth visiting.
