I want to buy a truck and can only spend up to $4500. What would be the best year, make and model to buy for this amount of money? Thank you!

If it's a small truck I would always recommend Toyota as they have consistently had the best reliability record. That being said, if you find a different brand that you like, maybe that's the truck for you. You can check out different brands and models for free at the library if they carry Consumer Reports magazine. CR will have a list of used cars and trucks to avoid and a list of recommendations along with repair histories of each model and year. They are also on-line at consumerreports.org, but it costs the price of subscribing ($26 per year). Something else I did before I bought my last pickup is talked to 3 different mechanics from different shops that worked on a variety of pickups to find out which ones have the most problems and which one they would buy. Be sure to get the truck checked out by an independent mechanic before you buy. It should cost less than $50 but could save you hundreds in repairs. Plus, you can use the mechanics report to talk the seller down possibly.

I've had two Ford Rangers, and couldn't have asked for a more reliable vehicle
