At about 2 years old, let her be a pup. Or, if you are in a hurry, after her third menstrual cycle.

Unless you are a registered breeder, you really should not being breeding your dog. There are thousands of dogs that are in shelters/pounds etc because of over population. Personally I think people should leave breeding to the experts. However if you are interested in becoming a registered breeder, why not asking other Dachshund breeders for some advice? They are the best people to get help from.

Reputable breeders never breed dogs before they are 2 years old because that is the age required for certain medical tests to be "certified". Unless your dog is a working Dachshund (obedience or go-to-ground trials) or a show dog, I would recommend that you do not have a litter at all. If you feel you must breed, be responsible and have her checked out thoroughly for all congenital conditions known in Dachshunds (thyroid, progressive retinal atrophy, hip dysplasia, luxating patellas, etc.) and you should research every dog in her pedigree and the prospective stud dog for at least 5 generations for epilepsy, temperament problems, invertebral disc disease, etc. There are thousands of people breeding bad dogs out there - don't add to the problem and heartache. If you choose to do it, please do so responsibly.

18 mo to 2 yr. Then they should only be bred once a year, not every heat cycle.

I agree with the first answers, but if she's an adult, I like winter & spring better before the fleas.

Never. Have her spayed and enjoy her for the pet, she's supposed to be.
Why add to the overpopulation?

After you have shown her in AKC conformation events, titled her and had her health tested.

If you haven't done any of these, please spay her.
