Some dogs just can't be alone, need attention all the time.
Buy a cage, but maybe the best solution is to get someone to take care of him while you are away...a pet-sitter.

You can find lots of books that show you how to train a bad dog. Go to your local book store and pick out a few.
Have you considered getting a big pen and a dog house and leaving him outside?
We had the same problem with one of our Jack Russle Terriers. When we would leave she would crap and pee everywhere! Be patient though. I know hwo irritating it can be. Just remember that he's just a silly little dog and doesn't know any better.

Please don't be mad at your dog! It is not his fault that he is doing the wrong thing. It is your responsiblity to teach him what is right and wrong. A dog is an animal that needs boundaries and consistency. To be honest, it sounds as though you haven't been training your dog properly. Crate training is a good idea. Get some books on training - there are some really easy, step by step ones available. Maybe you could call in a dog trainer to come and visit you so they can give you some advice on how to handle your dog properly and also advice on how to solve any problems you have. You could also take your dog to obedience classes.

First of all i think your dog has a case of separation anxiety, and he seems to be taking it out on the cookies and the furniture. I would suggest that you send him for an obedience course or get him a companion so that he can take his mind off the fact that you guys are not around and will not wreck the place. Animals, like people sometimes have a tendency to get bored and like they say idle paws are a devils' palyground.

Simple either buy a kennel and put him in it when you leave the house, or put him in the bathroom when you leave the house. But don't forget to put some food and water out for him.

try putting hot sauce on the food then let the dog climb up the table...he'll suffer from burns in the tounge then try it again until he learns his lesson...well that's all...but for me just put him in a cage and try not to spoil your dog discipline him once in a while
