Get a little desk bell to put beside the door, or hang a tinkle bell from the doorknob,,Each time you take him out, ring the bell, and give him a tiny treat, such as a piece of kitten kibble, and speak very upbeat, as if he rang the bell! ...then, put him out..If you are consistent with this for just a couple of days, he will likely think it is great fun to ring the bell when he needs to go out..He will have a new trick, and a way to alert you to his needs.. after a couple of weeks, begin skipping the treat, but just give praise..

Hi there!
I'm not a vet or anything, but I can only tell you what worked for our dogs. First of all take him to the vet to make sure there's nothing wrong with him such as an infection that's making him go like that. If everything is ok, then he is still a puppy, and when puppies get excited, sometimes they just pee. What really works is crate training. I won't go into it here, but you can get a lot of books on it, or do some research on google. It is NOT cruel, and actually our dogs love their crates and they have their little blankies in there, and they will go in there and sleep even when we are home!! It's kind of their little sanctuary. But it sounds like you are doing a wonderful job. Never EVER, hit your dog for doing something wrong. They don't know why you're hitting them and that just stresses them out even more. Good luck and I hope this helps! You're a wonderful animal lover!

Hi There!

I just finished potty training my puppy, she is 5 months old now.
And the end of her training, I removed all newspaper from where she would go before her training stopped. And then I started putting her out more often... as puppies at that young age don't have complete control of their bladder. Also, I limited her water intake as she was training. Especially during the evening and night time hours. I left just enough water in her water bowl for thirst quenching...as she would drink a lot of water. 4 months is a tad young to be done training, he needs a bit more time to learn bladder control, that's why he will pee where he is, no time to get to the door and scratch or bark. Give him a bit more time. He'll get there! :)
I hope my tips helped!
Good Luck!

I have had my dog for a year and he still pees in the house, the pet training academy we went to told us to try taking him outside more and staying out side untill the puppy does it's buisness. I think my dog was just lazy and is now an outside dog. But all the luck in getting you puppy to go outside 100% of the time.

It depends is he peeing or marking? marking is just little sprinkles and male dogs start doing this at around 6 months old on sometimes its not so bad after he is fixed or just fixes the problem. he may also be acting out if an animal is not getting the attention he needs he will act up to get even or get your attention.

Mine is doing the same. Just try to remember that is definitely better than when you first started. Your pup is not perfect by any means, it is still just a baby. Be patient, I am.
