My cat began to vomit yesterday, it was a white liquid kind thing, I read here that it must be hairballs but nothing seems to be coming out yet. She hasn't eaten anything since yesterday and she looks really weak, she just sits, not moving.
Could it be really hairballs or something else?
and why she is not eating and drinking anything?
I don't want her to die..

Please get her to a vet and ask for a blood test.

My cat got into something poisonous and exhibited the same symptoms (not saying yours did). I took him to the emergency vet who thought he looked like a normal cat. Did not do anything but look at him and take vitals. DID give him fluids, which saved his life. The next day, he was still not himself and I took him to the vet asking for a blood test. This was the only indicator (aside from the vomit) which showed near fatal liver damage due to the poison (still no idea what poison it was, just know it was insectocide or heavy metal). We fought with the medicine (he didn't like it and persisted to vomit it up for about 3 weeks) but we eventually got him eating food and drinking again. Just last night, he had recovered enough to be beating up his sister. He hasn't gained the 5 lbs back that he lost, but is otherwise now the same cat I had before.

I say all this not to scare you but to support you. 1) You know your cat best and know when she is really sick. Listen to this voice. 2) A $100 blood test is a small price to pay when confronted by the unknown AND the possible loss of a prized companion. 3) You never know if it might be something as bad as mine. The refusal to drink anything is the chief indicator of trouble. Food too is needed within a few days or a disease can erupt called fatty liver disease ... so she needs attention sooner rather than later.

Good luck! I hope I am merely a worrywart and all she has is the flu (gastritis). If so, I apologize for worrying you about it.

With his history of urinary tract issues, I would be a little concerned about that or kidney issues. If he's vomiting frequently and it's yellow, what you're seeing is bile. I know it sounds gross, but I recommend smelling it the next time he does it. If you smell an ammonia or bleach odor, this can be a sign of chronic renal failure (CRF). If you smell an acetone odor (like nail polish remover), this can be a sign of diabetes. Either condition can cause frequent vomiting and the vomit will be the yellow bile color that you're describing. If he's not actually producing food that would indicate overeating or something disagreeing with his stomach and the liquid is not clear, it's not likely that he's trying to cough up a hairball. I think you're right on track with your plan to have him checked out. If the vomiting continues through the night, I would try to get him in first thing in the morning if I were you. I wouldn't try the petrolium jelly or anything at this point, since it's not very clear what's going on. It won't necessarily be toxic to him, but I wouldn't want to chance making his vomiting worse. Good luck to you, and I hope he's feeling better soon!

Vomiting since yesterday? I would deffinatly keep her in a room where she only has access to water. Last night I thought I was going to lose my kitten because he was vomiting with blood in it. Turns of he has gotten into the garbage and as soon has he got everything out he was fine. If she's still sick in the morning I would deffinatly that her to the vet. She could have a flu. Or worse. but hopefully removing her from any food source will do the trick.
I hope everything turns out ok for you're kitty

my cat had the same thing, and the vets kept saying its hair ball however after a month where the cat got really bad they found out it was something to do with his kidneys and it was too late to save him so we had to put him down.
Take him to the vet, and make it clear its not hair balls thats causing the cat to be ill. its not too late to save your cat. and if your vet says its hair ball take your cat to another vet.
It took my vet a month to realise it wasn't hairballs and by then it was too late.
good luck

Could be poisoning if she goes outdoors, or got into something.
I give my cat Petromalt from Petsmart every other week to keep him from vomiting from furballs. It works. I put an inch of it on his paw and he licks it off. Yours may be more serious. Take him to the vet.

If she's not even drinking water, get her to a vet. They can't go long without hydration.
