Get a professional photoshopper to edit a photo of him to give him an idea of what he'll look like 20 years from now.

Or load him with as much junk food as you can, he'll get seriosuly sick and grossed by it and start eating some healthy stuff.

Note that this method might not work all the time. Some people can handle junk food pretty well.

Maybe you can also show him what junk foods are made of. For example, chicken nuggets are made of chicken skin squished and mashed together.

Get rid of all the junk food in the house. Don't give him money for lunch or snacks - pack him a lunch or let him make his own from the healthy food you've bought.

Take away the TV - he probably has one in his room, right? Start a deal where however much time he spends being active, he can spend watching TV or playing video games. 1 hour riding his bike = 1 hour of TV time, etc. Or give him a list of sports teams to join or classes to take, and make him join one.

Also find out if mild depression is to blame. Many teens suffer from it, and it'll sure zap his energy and make him apathetic about life.

why are you only thinking of this now? a young child should learn to eat healthy from his parents.
so if you're trying to teach him now, set the example. remove all unhealthy and processed foods from the house. it might be hard to do but it's definitely worth it.
cook meals with lots of fruits and veggies. you can't get enough!
and when you cook the meals, then the whole family should sit down and eat them together. it improves family relationships as well.
good luck.

teach him about future, what practical difficulties he will face with obesity.
encourage him to add fruits and raw vegetables in his diet.
slowly if he is used to those things he will reduce his junk food.
take him along with u for a morning and evening walk.
merely by telling him, it won't work.
u have to be behind him as u were while he was growing fat.
