Personally I'm not an atheist, I'm more the kind of person who believes there's something out there, but not neccesarily the big G. In highschool I regularly partook in debates in some of the christian clubs and we had a good time exploring eachothers' differences.
I'm from denmark, though, so I guess I also in part wonder why americans have to polarize everything to such extremes sometimes.

Funny thing; my fiance is actually an american and she's even got an answer here on the page. I don't have any particular problems in dealing with americans, I only have problems dealing with selfrighteous idiots, regardless of their race or beliefs. I'm an equal-opportunity
hatred-machine like most of my people.
I guess some americans just have a rough time dealing with questions they don't like being asked. Notice how I word it so it's apparent I'm not thinking everyone is like that? It's called grammar. Know it.

An example about what to talk about would be how you applied the biology lessons we had to the entire genesis part of the bible. Or simple astronomy with the movement of the stars and gravity and such.

Because neither wants to be proven wrong in any way. And america was founded by religious prudes so you really can't expect anything different. (And I'm american, so all you people who say i'm generalizing about america can shut up.)

No i do no longer see any risks in line with how a Christian is meant to act whilst debating with human beings of alternative ideals. the element of a Christian debating with an Atheist is to cajole them to grant God a attempt, and recruit squaddies for God. So, what regulations? No call calling, no lies, talk the fact because of the fact the Bible says, and his be conscious the way it works with technology (if the opt for be). regulations are incredibly a non-concern. you already comprehend (given which you have morals) that mendacity and contact calling are incorrect, and that it is not a good thank you to get cooperation out of others (for this reason, to open up and attempt God). advice for Christians... be a witness of His love. do no longer decide... yet instead, settle for human beings for who and what they're. you would be able to desire to. you would be unable to make a individual substitute. the sole way a individual can substitute is that in the event that they arrive to a determination to (like nicotine habit... in the event that they do no longer probably opt for to stop, they gained't, and it is not significant how annoying you attempt to cajole them). in the event that they say no, enable it pass. i think of there are too many Christians who attempt way too annoying to cajole human beings and use the incorrect words, physique language, approaches, etc. it is not any single individual's job to 'shop the international' like Superman - we artwork mutually to make the international a greater effective place. for this reason, God will deliver somebody else to them... so which you do no longer would desire to attempt too annoying and finally end up scaring the guy away. I in simple terms had to point that out... I even have seen it ensue too plenty.

Atheists know for a fact that god doesn't exist. Christians believe in the existence and power of god and are told not to believe otherwise. The result, a heated arguement between the two.

You're an agnostic. Most people, regardless of their beliefs on God, find it easier to hide behing fanaticism. I don't bother answering their questions. I hold very strong beliefs myself, but I am willing to be civil to those who don't believe the same.

People like having an enemy. It's been that way since time began. If Christians didn't battle atheists they'd battle someone else, and vice-versa

Well Christians are taught to rely on a non-thinking unreliable process called "faith" and to not tolerate anyone who believes otherwise - and especially the ones who disbelief all of it (i.e., the atheists).

Atheists debate with theists because we care about the human race and our world. Most wars (most hate) are religious based. We don't want our world to be like this.

Humans can and will never agree on religion, but its going to be forced on us one of these days. The religious group thats going to be in trouble then will be the true Christians, the Sabbath day christians.

If you beleive in some kind of superior being out there, then where would they have come from? Did they just evolve with their supernatural powers? No it has to be God you beleive in.
