OK. My goal is to constantly lose fat for a period of time. The rate of fat loss should be fairly fast. Now my question is, can i do this by having a 1500 calorie diet (with almost everything in it (carbs, proteins, etc.) and jog at least a mile a day?

Running will definitely help you burn those calories off!
A pound of fat has 3600 calories. So, to get rid of each pound of fat, you must burn 3600 more calories than you consume.
You indicated that you are on a 1500 calorie diet...that is very low, and will help quite a bit. (But be careful to not over do it--the idea is to stay healthy, not to starve!) Most people can loose about 5 pounds a month and still be healthy.
It seems to be that running will expend about 80-100 Calories every mile if your run a 10 minute mile.
The basic formula you use to calculate weight loss is:
1) Calories eaten - calories used = net change (this should be a negative number for weight loss--you want to use more calories than you eat)
2) 3600\ net change= days to loose 1 pound.
So if you eat 1500 calories a day, but you burn off 2000 calories, you loose about a pound a week.
Loosing weight is always a slow process, but keep at it, and you'll see the results! Best wishes!
***Edit to respond: Most people burn 2000-2500 calories a day just from normal activities, depending on how active and how large they are (I believe that 1800-2000 calories is the average for women). Even breathing burns calories!
I found a better calculator than the one I posted earlier, you might want to check it out. It will actually give you a good idea of what you actually burn in a day.

You should have some success however I would recomend doing some strength training about twice a week. Running will increase your cardio fitness and burn calories, but if you do strength training also you will build muscle and this will help your body to burn the fat more efficiently. You may also find that if you do the same thing all the time your body will plateau and you will maintain but stop losing weight before you reach your goal. If this happens you may need to change your exercise routine, step it up a notch or cut back for a short while and then start again after a couple of weeks.
Here is a little interesting fact: Celery is a negative energy food. This means you burn more calories eating it than it actually contains, and because it is crunchy it is really satisfying to eat.

I've lost 5 kilos in my first week. It's my 10th day and I have included salad with some protein (eg. egg/ lean chicken) as you suggested. After 4 years of trying, the fat is finally coming off. It truly feels like magic!
