how can you tell if there are ghosts in your house?

recently a lot of weird things have been happening at my house. the other night, i felt a prescence and was too scared to go to sleep. I was shaking and practically crying because I just felt like something was in my room with me. my boyfriend was over and i made him sleep facing me because I was so scared of this feeling. I finally fell asleep around 1am. at about 330am I woke up because I felt a pressure on my chest holding me down and i couldnt breathe. I gasped and shot up and couldn't fall back asleep for a while, the whole time i was constantly praying to God to protect me.
the next day, before i told her about it, my roommate told me how she felt like someone was in our other roommates room watching her so she had to shut the door. i started freaking out because she didn't know about the experience i had had that same night.
so basically my question is how can you tell if that was a ghost? we sometimes hear noises and knocks on the door but could it be a ghost?

There are ghosts everywhere. The question is, do you wish to acknowledge them and let them control your life or not.

If you choose Life, then do this:

Go on with life, do what YOU want. Regardless of the bumps, and sounds, and what ever a ghost may do.

Doing things, because you love life, will help you to ignore death.

You must get angery enough to do things , even though you are afraid.

I have dealt with ghosts, and believe me, the only way you survive is if YOU get angery and decide to Completly ignore all the ghosts happenings. AND think as much as a skeptic would.

By declairing out loud when you hear , say , a sound , say aloud " scre w this, its just the wind outside, or mice in the walls."

explain it with answers that wouldnt even fit , and say it with anger.

If you truely want to live, then treat it like it doesn't exist. And that all that is , is LIFE on physical earth.

Either wise, your fear will drive you insane.

Just as happened to my darling ex.

If you give in to fear, you are giving UP on life.

Yet if you choose Life, then ignore it, and continue with normal activity. NO MATTER WHAT.

my ex chose fear, wich is a living death. it hurt me so much to see her give up llife, that i had to leave her.

I will never forget the love we could have had, if she only focused on life.

I would be able to tell you as soon as I walked in if there was a problem. Other than a state of fear...where do you reside? I'm only asking because it could be a poltergeist and not a haunting of ghost.

Young female and male energy tend to 'hang out' and in your restlessness, this could be created from frustrations and inhibitions. When I walk into a house, if there is a haunting there, every single hair on my body stands up and I get a frigid cold rush. Also, if there is any 'evil' (for lack of a better word) connected to anything in the house, I can smell sulpher...almost like someone lighting matches.

If it is a senstation of someone watching you or always looking in on you, then I would ask a minister or priest from a local church to assist. They will be happy to bless the house for you. Put a blessed cross in every room, and read Psalm 121 as you place them in each room, followed by The Lord's Prayer. Also, I am a great follower of St. Michael, the Archangel. He's defended me more than once, that's for sure. These things will certainly not hurt, even if they don't help. You can buy crosses at the dollar store. As long as they are there, that's all that matters.

Not a ghost. It's the devil. Sometimes our actions invite him to mess with us. Perhaps there is a sin that is giving him access to you. I would prayerfully consider any sin that might be causing it. I know that this kind of stuff happens though. I am not going to tell you that you are crazy or mental. It happened to some chinese girls who were students at a school on a pacific island I taught at. They had evil angels messing with them at night, pushing them out of bed and just harrassing them. They were doing this trying to scare these poor superstitous girls from going to church. Our pastor told the girls to command them in the name of Jesus to depart, and they did. Take this very seriously since Satan only wants you dead. I am not trying to scare you. If you confess any known sins to God and then ask him to help you, this problem will go away. I hope you can sleep better soon. Oh and I hope you don't think I was accussing you of being a terrible sinner. I don't know what is necessarily the cause, but sometimes our actions do allow him access to our lives. I'll check back if you have any more questions.

I have felt those same prescences befor and i know exactly what ur talking about... i believe that there can be evil spirts just as well as there are good ones. You can just feel them like they are watching u and it makes u feel cold and u get the chills. It makes ur throat swell and u cant breath. THose are from the devil but they can only have as much power as u allow them jesus christ has the power to cast out devils so keep on praying.

Your experience is interesting because I have a similar story; as do a number of friends of mine. It truly does involve a "spiritual" encounter. My resolve was finally found in accepting belief in Jesus Christ as my Savior and therefore having "Authority" to rebuke such a presence. In terms of ghosts... God's Word does not lead us to 'submit' to their existence... that is say whether they do or do NOT exist... it is for us to know that such entities have NO power or control over us.

Asking God for protection was brave of you and intelligent... God is our Father and Creator yet it is his Son, Christ who is our intercessor to God... Please read in the New Testament of the Bible John 3:16 and know you are loved enough to be reunited to God and therefore be worthy of his protection and blesssings.

Don't be shocked that there will be those around you who will try to deter you from the Lord's perfect love, guidance, and protection and the HOLY Ghost... but please believe... your strength to overcome MUCH is just a whisper and prayer away.

Often such experiences happen to us to get our attention... (Matthew 22:14 of the Bible... read the entire chapter)... I know it was that way in my life... and I praise the Lord for it. I just talk to them of course there are ghost in your house. There are ghost who visit every one. Mostly they are relatives who want to know how their descendants are doing. Ghost are harmless you shouldn't fear them. Just talk to them if you can and let them know how you are doing. People who say there are not any ghost are fools and idiots. Wow that is good evidence of a ghostl precence that does not sound friendly at all. if you are religous maybe you should ask a priest to come bless your place. We recently had a priest do that to mine.humm maybe it is mind of matter,but I do feel "safer".

First of all, there's no such thing as ghosts. Sounds like you guys are overly paranoid. The chest problem may be something you want to look into - but I used to get that from anxiety attacks, so you might have just brought it upon your self with the paranoia.
