For those who didn't watch the videos, they were SUPPORTING pitbulls not the law banning them. I love them... and all the other dogs that are slowly being banned too. We have to do something because they deserve an equal right to live.

I used to take in foster dogs and have had several pitbulls from puppies to adult dogs. I have to say that, regardless of the training a pitbull has, it is in there instict to bite if they are feeling threatened...just as any dog does. The only difference between pitbulls than most other dogs is their lock-jaw bite. I have seen great pitbulls with hundreds of hours of training bite and kill other small dogs because they feel threatened. I have personally seen a well trained pitbull bite a young girl and lock onto her arm. The dog had to be shot before he let go of the girl.
The sad thing about the reputation of these dogs is that poodles and other small dogs are more likely to bite, but no one reports it because the damage is usually minimal. A pitbull bite, on the other hand can cause tremendous damage due to their not wanting to release the victim after attacking. Also, when a pitbull bites, it bites to kill...unlike other breeds pitbulls are attack biters, not fear biters. A dog biting in fear usually bites and retreats rather than bites and holds.
I personally think that pitbulls are great companions. The best dog I ever had was a pitbull. He was sweet, obedient, and easy to train. But on the other hand I would never have a pitbull if I decided to have children or other small pets. I think you are risking too much with a dog like this to have kids or small pets.
The decision to have a pitbull should not be made on impulse. A lot of things need to be considered before bringing a dog like this home. It is very important that this type of dog have extreme obedience training which can cost a lot of money and a lot of time.

As an insurance agent in the state of NC I can tell you that NO insurance company will insure your home if they know or suspect that you own a pit bull, a rottweiler, doberman, or any other "bad rep" breeds. It is a HUGE liability issue. Most homeowners carry at least $500,000 worth of liability insurance so no insurance company is willing to take the chance that this dog may bite or attack a guest at your home and then be on the line for up to $500,000. They would rather not have the business at all rather than chance paying out $500,000.

I love pit bulls. I had one she was a great dog. It is not the dogs fault that they are trained to fight or be protective. They are just doing what was taught. They are trying to please like any other breed. If I had a fenced yard I would have another pit. I feel terrible for the dogs that are abused and fought. The videos didn't change my mind about them, just made me want to fight for them. Why don't they put more effort into stopping the people that are aiding in giving these dogs the bad rep. It's just another form of abuse.

to all the dumb asses out their that say that pits are all mean and to that *** behr28 that said that pits are mentally challenged you don't know anything because pits are very smart i have a pit mix and shes the one of the smartest dogs i think anyone could ever have she understands every thing she is told and can even count i think you are the one that needs to be eliminated from the world if you want to be an *** like that .......as for the question how do i feel about pit bulls i personally love them as long as they are trained right .....yes i know that some pits attack (my 16 year old golden retriever was attacked in his own yard by one) however that's the owners fault its not the breeds fault....i would be so mad if they were to band pits where i live i wouldn't be able to stand it because as those videos said it would be called racism if it were humans and if you compared humans to dogs then should the people who have relatives who have gotten in to fights where someone has gotten hurt have their mouths covered in public no.......so yeah i have strong feelings about that nice question !!

I don't like pitbulls. I don't like any other kind of vicious dog either. Any dog can snap and attack a person, and dogs that are able to horribly hurt a person can do so easily, even if not raised to attack. I avoid pitbulls and other large vicious dogs when I'm around someone walking them, staying far away. A lot of times, when a person loves their dog, they think that everyone else should love their dog, and that of course their dog would never harm anyone. The dog is still an animal, and animals can just snap and attack, even with no or very little provocation.
I didn't watch those videos, because I don't need to be more afraid of them than I already am.
I don't think that pitbulls or any other vicious type of dog should be kept as a pet by anyone for any reason.

Pitt bulls can be an amazing dog in the right hands. I will say that owners must accept that they have a breed with a bad rap and a predisposition for dog aggression. Any responsible Pitt owner will work hard with their dog to show that this breed can be a good breed, when in responsible hands that is aware of the breed back ground.

I see this question on here a lot. I've owned 5 APBT in the last 19 years ,plus other breeds to .By far I love the APBT the best.I will always it least have one Pitty in my life.I've seen some of these videos before ,and everytime I watch them i'll cry. This breed is one of the most misunderstood breed of dog out there. As APBT owners ,it's up to us to protect our babies from harm.I really believe humans shouldn't fear Pit Bulls ,but Pit Bulls should fear humans.
R.I.P to all the Pittys who died in the flames of bsl.

i think that they are misunderstood. Yes they do have a bad rep, but that's only from growing up in a bad environment. YOu can train any dog to do anything, but because a pit bull has such a big heart and is so determined to please thier owner, they are usually better at fighting. But just like you can train him to do that, you can train any other dog, whether it be a chihuahua or a great dane, to do that exact same thing.

I have a pit bull and he is the most loving, adoring, playful dog I have ever owned. He will even put his paws up on my shoulders and hug me! When we have small children around him, he is so gentle with them and follows them around the house. He has the biggest heart I have ever seen. It is all in the way you train these dogs and how you take care of them or don't take care of them.
