I spent about $500 each this year

The budget is for about $50 for each kid. Which actually doesn't buy too much. But they also get gifts from other family members, so it's enough.

Besides, Christmas should be about making memories -- playing outside, doing Christmas crafts, doing the tree, making cards, etc. That's not very expensive.

Even with the few gifts we get our kids, they get overwhelmed at Christmas -- there's still too much stuff to digest! I think it's better to get a few, well-thought-out gifts than a whole bunch of stuff that will never be used after January 1. (-: Or, spread it out in a 12 days of Christmas kind of thing -- that way, each gift is special for at least one day.

We got advent calendars for the first time this year, too, and that's been a lot of fun! Every day, one chocolate. I think it was about $7 per calendar (hmmm, maybe I'm actually spending a lot more on the kids when I add in calendars and craft supplies and sleds! (-:). Well worth it!

You should only buy what you can afford. Don't go spending $700, $500 or even $300 per kid that is ridiculous. My mom was a single mother when I was growing up and she always got my brother and I what she could afford. Some times we had a lot and other times we had enough. One of my favorite Christmas was when my brother and I got the first Nintendo we may have gotten something else too but we got that from Santa.I even got mad at Santa because he didn't bring my mom anything for Christmas, LoL but he did the next year. My mom would always tell us when we had to watch our money and we knew but we never went without. I also cherish the times when we would buy for someone at school that couldn't afford any Christmas or buy for someone off of the Angeltree, I even gave up my Christmas one year to buy for a family at school and my mom told me that she was so proud of me. Christmas isn't about how much you got, Christmas is about giving as long as your kids get something than they will be happy.

Between $500.00 - $1000.00 on each child... For my children the dollar amount I spend on each really doesn't matter as they each get the gift or gifts they really want along with a few they need such as clothes etc.

I also begin shopping in Mid August so the cost is spread over several months... I suggest having Christmas wrap tucked in an easily accessible place and haveing a Christmas closet... When I get home in August with a gift I wrap and tag it and put it in the closet... When we set up the tree in December we empty the closet and put the bows and other decorative touches on the gifts and place them under the tree...

As to Santa gifts my mom's boss stores them for me... On Christmas Eve after all the kids are asleep he brings them over along with the gifts his daughter, my neighbor, has had him store... He says it makes him feel like Santa in a pick-up truck... LOL

We have spent just over $700 on each this year, things got a bit out of control. My daughter added the Dora Palace to her list last week, and my hubby went out & got it ($200 w/ accesories) so he bought another $200 in toys for my son too. I just do not know where all the stuff will go,lol

You spend what you can afford without going into debt.

I have spent about $75 so far I will probably spend another $75, but his b-day is a little over a month later. So he will get more and better gifts then.

I have three children and i spend between 50.00 to 100.00 dollars on them each year if we have the money. That is on each one. It might be to much for some people but my kids come first before we buy for any body else.
