If the puppies are around 3 weeks old, that is the time that puppies are painful to mom, scratching her sensitive tummy when they nurse.,so they need their nails clipped.
If the puppies are younger than that, you can usually get mom to relax and feed them by feeding her chamomile tea..
which will help her nervousness and fear.
Chamomile tea works very well, and is safe for her. Dump it out of the teabag, and use 1 teaspoon for small breed, up to 1 tablespoon for a large breed. Mix it in a little canned food, such as Mighty Dog, or Cesar's, and give about 30 minutes before she needs to relax. It will keep her happy, but reduce stress. It can be given as needed.
If she won't accept them at all, you are going to have to begin feeding them yourself..Using a bottle and puppy formula. You can get the formula at any pet supply, and other stores (such as WalMart) that have a good pet department..

Yikes! Time to scoop up pups and mom and take them all to the vet! She's going AGAINST her instinct for a reason. It could be something like a uterine infection . . . just don't know until she's examined by the vet. You can easily get mother's milk from a pet store like Pet Smart that has detailed instructions, but you should really find out why she won't nurse BEFORE the puppies start dropping weight. It might be too late by then.

First of all, How old are the pups? if they are under four weeks of age, get some puppy milk replacer or regular infant formula and and feed them by hand every two hours. Do not forget to stimulate their genitals with a clean rag or napkins to keep urine and bowels moving after every feeding. If they are over four weeks, start introducing them to solids with the milk on the side. Still keep a eye on the output too at this age. If there is no output, stimulate. Hope this helps!

Some new moms don't know what to do. Try to get the puppies up to her to start nursing if this doesn't work call a vet to get instructions on bottle feeding it is extremely difficult to keep new puppies alive by bottle feeding.

If they are newborn and she won't let them nurse, you will have to bottle feed them or they will die. If they are a few weeks old, you can get them started on some soft food and they should be okay.

Have the dog lie down and feed her (reward her) with tiny tasty tidbits of her favorite food from one hand and rub her belly while the pups are nursing. It helps to keep her in a kennel with her pups instead of being allowed to roam free. Peace.

Again, how old are the pups? No one can guess why unless they know if the female is still in labor, refusing to nurse during contractions, the pups are 2 weeks old and the female has Mastitis, the pups are 5 weeks old and she is weaning...
Please add to your question so you can get some answers!
