Study up on these different styles thier origins technique, and you get an idea of which one interests you the most. This is the one wich will keep you driven to excel in, and that is the main thing. If you do not enjoy it you will lose interest, and will not be as dedicated, this will definitely hinder your studies sooner or later.

Believe it or not, I watched a show on tv about this. and they did mechanical tests on what martial way was the best. If you are looking for the true meaning of martial warfare and art not using it just as an artform. Ninjitsu beat the others in balance, grace, speed, and power. Regardless of what you do though, (i use Iai-do, and other sword techniques), find something that intersts you and fits what you want to get out of it. Bruce Lee wrote a book on Jeet Kune Do, and on the opening cover of it, His wife wrote that after you read it, throw it away. Do what you want to. Or choose to go the way of the weapon. And learn all you can on each of them. One things for sure. With what you choose to do. Honor it, and be true to it, and the "thing itself" will come from you.

I recommend a freestyle Karate. I practiced that, and the motto is 'if you can find better way to do things, we'll adopt it'. The founders in Australia were champions from four different fields, and they tested each method to find the best combination. It s very practicle, with less focus on tracitional procedures, and more focus on what works best on the street.

It depends what you are looking for I guess, many people like the traditional stuff. I suggest trying a few for what appeals to you. DO NOT go anywhere where they put you under pressure to join up; these people are only in it for the$$$.

There is NO "best" Martial Art, because they ALL have their own strengths and weaknesses.

The only thing you can do is take some trial classes and see which one that interests you the most (since you've pretty much narrowed the decision to 3 disciplines). and whichever one fits your idea about what YOU want to get out of the discipline.

Even then, only YOU can determine how well you're going to progress in the discipline or how good you're gonna become.

it's personal choice.

Every martial art has its forte/strength and areas that can improved. You'll need to find out what you want or like to learn. Find the styles that matches to your body/personality and you will be able to easily adap to it. Also, you may want to look at what's available in your area. It's not fun or seem a long term viable solution if you have to travel 40 miles or more to get to the school to practice your martial arts.. Look locally, find out what style you like and join them.

what is you purpose of learning martial art ? if it is only for sport, then take anything you like.
if it is for self defense, i'd say, the best martial art is to train your mind to be ready for everything.
confuse ? well, lemme tell you, doenst matter what you learn, if it doesnt work when it matters, then it is no good. you can learn anything to protect yourself. even basket ball. by playing bball, you keep your body fit and strong. being fit and strong give you an advantage in a self defense situation. you can even use bball techniques to hit someone. need a prove ? try to use dunk technique on someone's head. do it on full power... or use a dribble technique on someone's ball...
bottom line is...the best martial art is to prepare youself for everything.

If you are looking for self defense then check out Ed Parker style Kenpo. It is not a sport but hard core F**k em up quick and get away to safety style fighting, breaking arms, busting nuts and cracking wind pipes. Fun Stuff
