They WERE developed in Boston. Derived from a cross between the English White Terrier and the English Bulldog, they were originally called Boston Bull Terriers. Due to some dog politics, the name was cut to Boston Terriers.

But Bostons aren't terrier-like at all, more like the friendly Bulldog, which is what makes them such a sweet family pet!

The Boston Terrier is one of the few breeds that was "Made in the USA." Boston to be exact. The original Boston Terriers were a cross between the English Bulldog and now extinct English White Terrier.
