I have posted a question about the New Age movement, and YES I am just as ticked off as many of you are. As a matter of fact, I wish the movement never existed to begin with since it is a synthesis of Wycca, the old Celtic pantheon, into which is now the religion of Marin -- MY RELIGION! As a Unitarian, I feel that both my religious beleifs and my civil rights have been stripped. Whoever started the movement is going to pay for this, because it nearly cost me my own marriage. And you better believe my wife is just as angry as I am. How would you feel if your religion was infringed because of its advantages. First Hinduism was ripped off, then Rastafaria, then Islam and now Marin! I feel like crying an ocean of tears. I appreciate any viewpoints you may offer for my question. Thank you, and may Gaia bless you with Her bounty.

According to Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita " Whenever their is a decline in religious principals and the truth appears to be lost, I appear again and again or send my representative to reestablish the truth." So it is bound to happen that things get misconstrued and then another has to come to reestablish the truth. All pure religions come from God and then man gets his filthy hands on them and changes them. Even the Bible was misconstrued by king Constantine yet people are taking it all as Christs teachings. read the Gospel of the Nazirenes The original Bible) it was in hiding with the Original Christians who went underground because of being killed by nonbelievers. Restored with historical documentation by Alan Wauters and Rick Van Wyhe . We have to be seekers of truth no matter what, not just religion. We can't just have blind faith God gave us discernment to use it. I like the Unitarians.

Well, it seems that you feel very strongly about your religion. I'm sure that you of all people, would know how comforting it is to really, truly believe, in a religion.

Wouldn't you want other people, no matter how new age-y the religion is to feel that happiness too? So lets say it true, maybe people "ripped off" your religion, as you say, still don't you want them to feel happy?
OK I know that didn't directly answer your question but this is kind of the thought that came to mind.

Are you for real?
I mean, this is a joke right? You're just posing as a Unitarian bigot, right?
So you're telling me you're open minded about all faiths, except the new age movement, because it cheapens your Unitarian faith, which is to accept bits and pieces from all other religions, right...
Look. New agers are OK. I mean they're flaky, sure. But they're not mean people. Relax.

Any belief system is going to be classified as religion, no matter how loosely. Your rant isn't clear why this bothers you, or why it should threaten you. So long as you are true to yourself and your beliefs, no other "movement" should be able to touch you. Have faith in yourself and your beliefs and you'll be fine.
