None of the arguments forwarded by philosophical naturalism---1. the universe is merely an illusion; 2. the universe sprang from nothing; 3. the universe eternally existed--satisfactorily account for the existence of the universe. Logically, we can turn only to the possibility that "God created the heavens and the earth"(Genesis 1:1). If thats the case, however, it immediatly brings up the question---"WHO MADE GOD".
first, unlike the universe, which according to modern science had a begining, God is infinite and eternal. Thus, as an infinite eternal being, God logically can be demonstrated to be the uncaused FIRST CAUSE.
Furthermore, to suppose that because the universe had a cause, the cause of the universe must have had a cause simply leads to a logical dead end. An infinite regression of infinite causes does not answer the question of source; it merely makes the effects more numerous.
Finally, simple logic dictates that the universe is not merely an illusion; it did not spring out of nothing (nothing comes from nothing; nothing ever could); and it has not eternally existed (the law of entropy predicts that a universe that has eternally existed would have died and "eternety ago" of heat loss). Thus, the only philosophically plausible possibility that remains is that the universe was made by unmade CAUSE GREATER THAN ITSELF.

The simple answer: No being created God. He is from which all creation springs.
The hard part: How can someone/something be timeless (outside of time) and have always existed? That must be taken on faith to some extent. Here are a number of proofs by St. Thomas Aquinas, a famed theologian that show why God could not have been created by something, all stemming from the basic idea that: we have the created world now, and everything comes from something, so, we call the end of that progression "God"

Creation and created things are of this universe. God created all the universe, the universal laws (everything has a beginning, gravity, light, time, etc...) are also a creation of God. God is not subject to the laws He created. Nothing is greater than it's source. Nothing made God. He has always been.

God is the Creator, not the created.
John 1
Prologue: Christ, the Eternal Word
1 In the beginning the Word already existed.
The Word was with God,
and the Word was God.
2 He existed in the beginning with God.
3 God created everything through him,
and nothing was created except through him.
4 The Word gave life to everything that was created,[a]
and his life brought light to everyone.
5 The light shines in the darkness,
and the darkness can never extinguish it.
John 1:10-14
10 He came into the very world he created, but the world didn’t recognize him. 11 He came to his own people, and even they rejected him. 12 But to all who believed him and accepted him, he gave the right to become children of God. 13 They are reborn—not with a physical birth resulting from human passion or plan, but a birth that comes from God.
14 So the Word became human[d] and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.[e] And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son.

A few brilliant authors in ancient civilizations, I say brilliant because they deceived and are still deceiving people to this day, you will find their names in the Bible, John, Ezekiel, Paul, etc, so yes people made God, he was the imaginary sidekick to a Super Hero/magician named Jesus, the crime fighting duo took on starvation and gave people a reason to live while condemning people that didn't believe in their cause.
Hey religious folks whats worse not believing, or murdering someone in the name of God??JW
There is your answer plus a little fluff to make things more interesting.
Comic books were long in those days.

He creates all and no one created Him. That's why He's the Alpha and Omega. The beginning and the end. People make up gods of their own minds, desires and imaginations. But the one true God has always been and always will be. The great I Am.

God doesn't need a maker. He is the 1st cause of everything. Anything that has a beginning needs a cause according to the law of cause and effect. The universe had a beginning according to the big bang theory. Therefore, it needs a cause. God never had a beginning, nor does He have an end. He is eternal. Therefore He doesn't need a cause.

Before God was made, there was chaos. After God was made, there was still chaos. When humans came, God left. Now no one can find Him.

God not having been made.
God having been sleeping outside of existence, when existence was not yet, and after existence shall be no more....
God having awakened and shouted: "I Am!", existence being an after-effect of the echoes of that "I Am!"
Study the Torah, watch for puns and jokes, particularly study God's answer to Moses when asked 'Who are you?' (Study it in Hebrew, joke not funny in other languages.)
