Will i loose any files or have any problems if i load Windows XP PRO over what my system came with which is Windows XP HOME? I downloaded Windows XP PRO service pack 2 from limewire. It is a .ISO file. I extracted it with WinRar and burned the files to a cd-r with nero. I would appreciate any feedback!

As long as you don't format (during the install) you'll be fine.
Personally, I would backup my important stuff just in case.

If it's VLK (Corporate), you'll have no problems with it.

The legality of this is your concern.

PS: Pro _is_ better than Home.

What you are doing is illegal and no one on this board should help you, go buy pro if you want it.

Also why do you need pro?

The only difference with pro and home is the networking portion, pro can connect to a domain and home cannot, and pro can accept incoming remote desktop connections and home cannot.

If you don't need these options then there is no need to goto pro.

And if you need the rdp option just use VNC it is free and easy to use.

To Vash
If it was corporate VLK what fricken IT department would let a rogue employee install their own OS, I sure the hell don't let people do that in my network.

If you don't have a legal copy (ie, legal key code) then I'm betting you'll be @$#%-ed up when it refuses to let you in any more.

Why are you doing XP Pro? Are you needing to have your computer join a domain? Are you part of a corporate environment? What are you hoping to gain here?

It always pays to backup your files. With flashdrives so reasonable today and transportable, it would be worth your while to invest in them. If you can afford it, an external USB hard drive would be even better.
