From experience it takes a little time and alot of patience, and of course, a few mistakes. This is on both parts, you and the puppy. I have raised dogs and trained them. I've had success with this procedure. When you receive a puppy and begin potty training, the best thing to do is on a schedule. Sure your going to have accidents, but in the long run it works.
Assuming your keeping the puppy in a crate, when the puppy first wakes up, take it outside. Once it does its business, praise it. Do not take it back in the house until it has done its business, some puppies will not want to go right away. Wanting to go back in, because of the weather, or just curious about its surroundings. Sooner or later the puppy will go. Do this after the puppy wakes up, drinks or eats. During the day watch the puppy and check the behavior. You will be able to notice when it is about potty. Wondering around, making a circular motion, looking at you, and of course the puppy will eventually go to the door, waiting for you to open it. The most important things to remember is, Patience and Routine. The last thing you do before you put the puppy in the crate is take it outside, one more time, before you put in the crate, for the night.

No that's not mean, as long as (when its not raining) you are taking her out for walks or any kind of exercises. Puppies have a lot of energy and need to play. If she's not getting exercise or your not playing with her lots than that's mean. It would be like you (as a kid) never being able to play or run around. I would suggest getting a puppy training book or look it up on the net. Just so you can know exactly what to do and how to train her. Puppies are a lot of work and your going to have to devote a lot of time to get her house trained. On the Internet you can find websites that tell you exactly when to feed her and take her out for walks to go to the bathroom, some even give you a whole schedule of the puppies day. You just have to search. It is a lot of work to train a puppy, but if you stick to it than you will have a happy well trained dog in the years to come. Hope I was of help (:

Keep the puppy in a cage or a large box when you are not watching him. Get puppy training pads and put them around the house. Make sure you take the puppy outside to the same place every 90 minutes to 2 hours, and again if he is sniffing. Only give your dog water right before you are going to let him out, then give him as much as he wants. About 20 minutes after he eats he will need to go outside. Reward him every time he goes outside or uses the pads. It will take a while, so be patient. My puppy is 7 months old and still uses the pads, but very rarely goes on the floor anymore.

Housetraining should never involve being mean. Crating is the easiest and most successful method out there - if it is done correctly! Puppy pads seem like a good idea at first - but I always have clients who contact me when their puppies are 5-6 months old asking why their dogs are peeing on all their rugs and refusing to "go" outside at all. I have to tell them it is because they have taught their puppies that it is okay - actually preferred - that they mess in the house. And rugs start to look a lot like pee pads after a while. Check out my housetraining protocol on my website at http://www.fresnodogtraining.com/article_housetraining.html
I use this method myself and so do many of my clients. It really works! It is never too late to housetrain a dog - I use these same methods on adult rescue dogs as well as young puppies! Hope that helps!

When you have a puppy and you want to house train it, you need to be prepared to be home most of the time. Take your puppy out after every feed ing and every hour or so. When the puppy does its business outside you praise it abundantly. It takes watching the puppy and when he is ready to go in the house, run him out quickly then tell him how good he is. I trained my dog with love and dilignece in only a couple of weeks. Good luck

Crate training. If they make an accident just say uh-oh in a loud firm voice and go for the cleaner and paper towels. Plus really good treats as the rewards works wonders. I just bring out the paper towels now and my puppy puts her ears down and knows uh-oh. If they have accidents just remember it is your fault, at least in the beginning. They can't be trusted. Take them out as soon as they wake up, when they play. Remember one hour they can "hold it" for each month that they are old. They learn though thats the best part. Never rub there nose in it or yell, also no spankings please.

You should be using a crate. The fastest way to housebreaking puppies is to start by confining the puppy to a small area. The crate serves this purpose because it brings out your puppy's "den instinct" and provides for a sense of security and well-being. It also acts similar to the way a crib or playpen would for a human baby-- it keeps the pup out of trouble when you are not around to supervise.

When my dog has puppies i had to train all 8 of them. The best way i found to do it..When the potty in the house..you have to see them doing it u grab em and tell them no bad dog..rub their nose in it and take them and sit them by the door and the tell them.. lets to potty or some thing like that..then u take them out side..and if they happen to use the restroom again when u take them out..tell them good dog and give them a treat..but if u punish them for using the restroom in side when ever u find it ..they wont understand what they are getting in to trouble for...and sooner then later..u will find ur dog coming up to u licking u or acting funny or sitting at the door trying to tell u they want out..but ask them a lot threw out the day if they need to go potty or if they want to go outside and take them out even if they don't use the restroom..just be sure to praise them when they do the right thing..Treats work the best..Good Luck..and be sure to stay consistence

Take it outside a lot. If you are crate training, (which is a good idea then they dont ruin your home) take it out everytime you open the crate. I also found that taking the water away at about 7 pm helped. I would just take it out like every half an hour when you are home.

you have to dedicate yourself to the chore, begin by walking the pup every hour, after a week or so then start every two hours or so, the pup should be getting the message by now
also pay attention to your timing, first thing in the morning, last thing at night, especially 15-20 minutes after it eats and drinks
