Been around the world several times and all over the US for business.

I make a list about a week or so before I leave and be sure to get medications refilled - and everything laundered or dry cleaned then try to pack as light as I can do.

Hotels have hair dryers and irons in rooms now

I have special air line clothes I wear and travel clothes that don't wrinkle.

Generally, I pack the night before I leave. I pack flat and I leave dry cleaned things in their plastic bags.

In the morning I pack the toiletries as I use them to get ready; that way I don't forget something important.

Hawaii has everything so if you forget something you can pick it up there. Leave room in the suitcases for souvenirs you will bring back

You don't need many clothes in Hawaii because you spend most of your time at the beach and the dress there is very casual.

Here is the best well traveled tip I can offer you: do not take your things out of the suitcase. Do not put your stuff in drawers at the hotel. Always look on the back of the bathroom door for something you might have hung up there and forgot.

Is your itinerary set? Do you have an idea what you will be doing? When will you be going? Depends on your definition of packing. Given that I know what I will be doing for certain during the trip. Then pack accordingly, I would start with the basics and clothing that you would not need till the trip. Folding shirts, blouses etc. in advance. Hell with the wrinkles you will be in paradise. It's mostly casual there. If you know that you will not have time to wash things then you will have to pack for 2 weeks worth of clothing or accept the cost of having the hotel wash it. I use a check list of things I require on business trips, shirts, shoes, slippers, toiletries, pants, shorts, socks, ties, money, credit cards, camera, cell phones, etc. And just go down the list. I have never gone on a trip longer than 9 nine days. I start sometimes a week or two before. I recently went to Bangkok and packed the short sleeved shirts that I would need there. I live in California and we have had mostly cool weather lately. Which is hotter than Hawaii. If you like the drama the list helps take out the drama of packing. Start with the list. I broke it up into sections, shirts or blouses, underwear, shoes(slippers, casual, walking, dress), toiletries(deodorant, Q-tips, shampoo, lotion, etc.), pants or skirts or slacks, Belts(dress or casual)miscellaneous (hats, raincoats, etc.), etc.

Since using the list whether long trip or short trip. I rarely forget anything, most times over pack.

Good luck

I dont officially pack until the night before, but you can prepare early if you want.

I always clear my bed and make piles of pants, Ps, shorts, tanks, dress tops, dress bottoms, etc.

Look over, then stick in the suitcase. I put out my clothes for the morning i am leaving and leave 1 bag to stick my last minute things in.

If you pack too early, you might have some clothes in the laundry or you might wear something you want to pack...you want to try to zip up your suitcase and not have to unzip until you are in paradise!!

I am totally Obsessive compulsive about packing and this works!!

I try to start packing a week before the trip, but I keep changing my mind about what I want to take and what I leave...so I'm still packing the night before. Well, I'm finishing up the night before.

A day before

Day/night before. If you do it too early you end up unpacking, repacking and forgetting stuff. If you're that excited, write a list.
