When my brother was in middle school, I remember the doctor giving him a bunch of check list sheets to give to all of his teachers to help the doctor decide. Like one of the questions was like "Does he seem distracted at times?". After all the teachers filled them out, my brother gave it to the doctor so he could evaluate them. He decided my brother could use a little help concentrating and gave him medicine for it.

If your friends are noticing it then your teacher probably is too. May you can get a note from your teacher that you are have problem. Some People look at ADD as a mentaldown-fallingg, of which is not. You just see things different. Maybe if your teacher points out how difficult is going to be for you to learn with this then that might help. Or you can arrange for a mtg between your teacher and Mom and hope that she will understand through that.

To get an accurate diagnosis you need to go to a clinic that specifically tests for ADD/ADHD. They will run several different tests one being the TOVA test plus some others. If all they do is a questionaire I would be leary of the diagnosis since those results do not always give an accurate diagnosis.

a whole battery of tests and observations over several hours, all day I believe. That is if you want a true diagnosis and not just a pat excuse for not raising your kid right. I don't think it would have been possible for me to have an ADHD child, I think a lot of that has to do with parenting.....but thats just my observation. I wonder about ADD, if it isn't because of the fast pace of television shows and such.....again, a lack of proper parenting...perhaps!

when i was in the 7th grade, they stuck me in a cubicle-sized room with white walls and a computer and told me everytime it beeps to press the enter key. i did that for a 20 minutes. then there was a visual test where i had to click a button every time there was a flash on the computer. that was 20 minutes too. i didn't have add but it was very boring.
