I am very down and upset with all the hatred here against Catholics
I am a Catholic and proud of my faith I believe in the Catholic Church.
I have never met a site where there is so much hatred except here
My question is how do you handled it and keep going? Because I am ready to quit. Not from the Church but from this site.
Please help me.

I just try to ignore the hate,
remember that God is the center of my life,
pray for patience and wisdom,
and try to answer sincere questions in a sincere way.

Scripture also helps:

But we hold this treasure in earthen vessels,
that the surpassing power may be of God and not from us.
We are afflicted in every way, but not constrained;
perplexed, but not driven to despair;
persecuted, but not abandoned;
struck down, but not destroyed.
(2 Corinthians 4:7-9)

I wait for you, O LORD;
I lift up my soul to my God.
In you I trust;
do not let me be disgraced;
do not let my enemies gloat over me.
No one is disgraced who waits for you,
but only those who lightly break faith.
Make known to me your ways, LORD;
teach me your paths.
(Psalm 25)

With love and prayers in Christ.

Why be down and upset over a silly web page? Would quitting this site be so tragic? This is light entertainment, not divine revelation. You can't take it too seriously. You're not going to find life changing spiritual guidance here. Best you can hope for is to find an occasional intelligent comment among the jokers and trolls and air-headed prepubescent fools.

I have spoken against the Catholic church not out of hatred but as a reflection of some really bad experiences. If anything the Catholic church dumped hatred on me. Big time. I won't get into details but the Catholic church messed me up as a child. I'm sorry if my negative opinion of the church offends you but offering opinions is what people do here. Would you rather have people tell you only what you want to hear? Your experiences may be different than mine and if the Catholic church is right for you that'll overrule the opinions of others.

I suggest you leave the site. I've been writing as an apologist on the net for 10 years, in forums and chat rooms. If you are going to wade in the sewer, you need to have hip boots on. Stay out of Yahoo Catholic chat, it isn't healthy either.

There are much friendlier places to go where you can have fun and share with other Catholics. And occaisionally, we get some non-Catholics to debate with, but such places have no-flaming rules, unlike the mindless bigotry of this site.

Jesus said we would be persecuted. We have the fullness of faith, we do not claim to have the corner market on truth. This puzzles Protestants. (and even some Catholics) Here is an essay on the persecution of Catholicism on the Internet, its very interesting:
http://www.catholicleague.org/research/anticat_internet.htm

As for a good place to go for discussion , I recommend:
http://catholic-pages.com/start/
http://www.phatmass.com/ < interesting muzik
http://www.ecatholic2000.com/ < has a good chat room
http://www.catholic.com/

What amazes me is how well and how fast Satan has convinced an entire population of a grossly exaggerated scandal problem. People will cling to anything for the illusion of being on a higher moral ground, and are obsessed with sex scandals, and it seems that no amount of facts and information with stem the tide of such hate propaganda. They refuse to look at their own families and neighbors and other professionals. They think that because SOME priests have done evil, that the entire Church must be evil too. This is bigotry. Then Judas made the entire Church evil from the beginning???

Fellow Catholics, I propose an exodus from Yahoo Answers. I'll probably get banned, but it wouldn't be the first time.

Simple question, can non Catholics take communion?

Christianity has fractured into many denominations and sects. The Roman Catholic Church claims to be the only "denomination" and it road to Christ and to God. It makes this claim as Peter's successor, oral tradition, and the bible.

Starting with Luther, another part of the fractured Christianity protested these claims. And this group has the majority of the conversation because it is in the majority. The American Civil Religion which comes from the Puritanism is the "religion" of the Americans.

You can stay or leave. Ask your questions or answer others. But this like everything else, you must make your own judgment as to its value.

Being Christian, being Catholic has really nothing to do with anything. Christian and non Christian alike use this website. You can be one of them or not. But hatred is a poor word to use for passionate argument of belief.

Hey,
being a religious person is not easy, whether it's on this site, or anywehere else in the world. The people who hate christians just don't believe (or understand) in God.
Be strong kiddo, they can say whatever the hell they wanna say, it's not gonna change anything about you, or me, or any other christian arround. If ur proud of your faith, and if you believe in the Catholic church, then nothing in the whole world can change that.

Be brave kiddo, don't give up just yet. There are very useful information arround here, and there are a lot of idiots. You just need to learn how to sort them out. Besides, we're here for ya.

frist off, I am not Catholic, but I do Understand what You are saying. I am a Baptist, BUT my BEST FREIND is Catholic. I would never put-down the Catholic Church now that I understand what You beleve and why you beleve that way. also I tend to look at things this way, if every religion is man made, then there is no perfect religion. If the great men of the Bible expirenced God diffrently (and they did), then why do we insult others for expirenceing God diffrently. I have grow up in church, and for the last 13 years I have been in a bible study program, one of the things I have learned is that Every one has a personal veiw of God, and a personal way of worship. thus said I dont think that any one form of worship is right above another.

Dont give up, read Heb 11,12:1-2. and remember, not every one is going to hate the Catholics, and those who do are not folowing the comands of the Bible.

I am not a Catholic, but if you quit you will be doing exactly what they want you to do. All the negative replies in this forum are so angry at people of faith right now that they are continuously spamming this forum with pure hatred. They are trying anything they can to stop the spread of the word of god to the people that have legitimate questions and concerns about their faith.

So, hold your head high and continue the good fight. Because you know in your heart that Jesus has already won.

Well if your a Catholic then you should be use to martyrdom.Jealousy and envy are two of the cardinal sins which will cause retaliation to truth.
You need to smile and continue evangelizing by action,or; as St. Francis said, use words when only necessary.Catholicism is really for those who have life experiences which enable them to see, to feel,to hear, to touch, to taste, life---that creation has a primary cause.Without that experience it is easy to deny or enter the state of agnosticism. Treatise have been written about your position for centuries.The need is to remember that HOPE does not mean that you nor I have no worries, rather knowing and believing that what we do have is greater than what we lack. Catholic have hope. Maybe for others life is folly. Your desertion can be a rejection of HOPE. This is the season to Rejoice. Rejoice.

Im sorry that your feelings are hurt. I am a former Catholic now i am an Atheist. I think you need to read some books that strengthen your faith. There is some good Christian theology books out there. To be fair this is Religion and spirityality did you think everyone would love you and think you are always right? Some people post stupid things on here ALL SIDE. Dont take it personally people dont dislike you but your ideas. Christians tell me im gonna burn in hell all the time. I dont take it that they want me personally to burn in hell.

PS: hope your ok.

I'm not a catholic, but I would like to let you know that you aren't completely hated--the bad apples on this site speak the loudest, and we need more good people--want to be one? This site is nuts sometimes, but if you stick it out it can be VERY rewarding--please don't quit so soon--I don't even know you yet, and I would like a chance
