Years ago, many actually, most cars were two wheel drive and were rear wheel drive. Like some powerful cars still are today, like the Ford Crown Victoria the police likes to use.
Nowadays however, with better technology, most cars are front wheel drive and also two wheel drive, so the "driving" wheels shiffted from back to front. And some good cars are four wheel drive (some manufacturers like Subaru don't even make any model that is not 4 wheel drive), and these are very good for getting out of trouble on beach sand, or not getting stuck on snow. But the advertisement that 4 wheel drive will give you better safety driving on snow is false. Driving safelly on snow has a lot to do with your experience, your speed, how heavy is your vehicle (heavier is better) and good traction tires. I've seen 4 wheellers stuck on snow, either because their tires were bad, car is too light, so there is no traction even on frour wheels while a two wheeler, rear drive, heavy police car passes by with no trouble.
Now a Mustang with front wheel drive, hummm, maybe some of the 6 and 4 cilinder cheap ones made some time ago were front wheel drive but I don't think so. I think what really existed was the Ford Probe which was supposed to be the new Mustang at that time, was a dumb idea and after protest Ford decided to keep the Mustang name out of it. Who wants to save money and gasoline, but wants a Mustang? Not many I think. By the way, I love the new ones, they finally have a style again and with all the new technology on engine and electronics, and a rear wheel power. It's a winner!

No there has never been a front wheel drive mustang it is not an option. Two wheel drive usually means that only the 2 rear wheel get power to push the car, front wheel drive is the power is in the front wheels and they pull the car. Front wheel drive is better in the snow, rain , and ice than rear wheel drive.

The only Mustang I have ever seen that was not rear wheel drive, was pulled through the air at more than 400 mph by a propeller coupled to a Rolls-Royce Merlin V-1750.
Front wheel drive and two wheel drive are the same if you only have 2 wheels driving the vehicle.

Thankfully NO!!!! If Ford were to produce a front wheel drive Mustang, that would be an INSULT to the Mustang name and heritage. There is no difference between two wheel drive and front wheel drive, except that two wheel drive can refer to either front wheel drive, or rear wheel drive.

Almost. Ford was planning to replace the rear wheel drive Mustang with a Mazda MX-6 front wheel drive and rebadge it as a Mustang.
In a front wheel drive the front wheels are powered. A rear wheel drive powers the rear wheels.
Front wheel or rear wheel drives are 2 wheel drives because only two wheels are powered.

No mustangs have way too much power for front wheel drive. There is no difference between front wheel drive and two wheel drive because front wheel drive is a type of two wheel drive. the other type of two wheel drive is rear wheel drive (which the mustangs have)

Don't think so, I believe they have always been the traditional rear wheel drive set up. Two wheel drive can refer to either the back wheels OR the front wheels propelling the vehicle. All wheel drive or 4 wheel drive of course means that all the wheels are moving the car ahead (or back) Can be selected manually, or is 'always on' depending on the vehicle/options.

Thankfully no. All Mustangs have always been RWD, all the way back to '64. Many american auto enthusiasts hate front wheel drive. The car's handling is totally different, the weight bias different, you can't "power slide" a FWD car in a normal manner, and they're harder to work on, because the engine is installed sideways. Not to mention that traditional american V8s won't fit FWD cars. Rear-wheel drive rules!
