I've just been hit with four violation notices for totally different answers to questions in this section, stating that I was sending spam or advertisement. Frankly, the content is "the usual" when someone asks, "If I have $250 to spend on a digital camera, what do you think I should buy?" or, "Which do you like better, the XYZ or the ABC?" Clearly this is vindictive from someone, although I don't understand who might be upset or somehow threatened by my answers.

Did this happen to anyone else or am I a club of one?

I haven't been targeted myself (yet) and Lord knows, you don't deserve to be.
Customer Care has been getting a lot of complaints about wrongful violations lately. They seem to be taking this as a serious problem and they've opened a topic for it in the forum:
http://messages.answers.yahoo.com/answers/threadview?m=tm&bn=SEA-YahooAnswers&tid=67581&mid=67581&tof=5&frt=2
They're also working on a super secret way to reduce real trolls, spam, etc. I can't wait!
Keep on trucking!

It's been a day now. Any more bogus reports?
I'd like to think that if you contact customer care and contest these violations, the ill effect will boomerang to the original user... but that might be a bit naive. Dunno. It should at least wipe them off your record.

Dr Sam I have never been hit with a violation of any kind, but I am only level 4, you are quite a way in front of me. Many times you have answered camera questions before I have, over time I have seen you help out a lot of folks. I have always found your answers to be honest, well considered and helpful.

I really don't know what happened to you or why, but all I can do is encourage you to continue as you have in the past. You willingly share your knowledge research and experience in an effort to help others.

Like you I am a Nikon SLR fan (D50 & D80). Despite this I do value the way you do not rubbish other products but rather you give honest considerations to other people's question regardless of brand preference.

I hope that you will continue precisely as you have in the past. Please don't let negative actions of one misguided clown ruin all the good you have done for folks on here.

All the very best to you.

the bigger undertaking is Yahoo won't delete a question if it abides with the help of the regulations regardless of if 10 human beings document it. So those questions are violations and it choose not be the comparable contributors doing the reporting. that's not an opinion web page opposite to many ideals this may well be a Q & an internet page the place a question could desire to seek for expertise. not what I or you think of.

Probably the most knowledgeable one on this Wes site is Dr. Sam who I always look forward to all of his answers. Multiple violations is totally all wrong. Who I believe should be hit with violations is ej w for soliciting.

I feel you too. I got a few thumb downs just because I recommend a brand that they don't like. But reporting a great answer as abuse is just a bit too much. Hope he/she will stop soon. And I hope you won't stop answering question here just because of that. You are one of the most knowledgeable person here.

I'm sure its happened to many other innocent people on here besides you (she says, while looking behind her back).
It's probably from some disgruntled new camera purchaser who realises they made a very stupid and expensive mistake (because they didn't take your advice)...and bought that other lousy brand instead!

There's someone who is sending advertisement they go by the name of Gena G. or Gena K.. Someone might reported you by mistake instead of them.

I know I feel for you...Just because some one doesnt like you they hit you with that stuff...

You should only be able to challenge people on your own level and not newbies below you in levels..
