Why do they leave the seat down? They want equal rights, well equal rights start at home.

I say we (men) should start yelling at them for leaving the seat down.
How would they like that?

Boy, do you have a lot to learn. First, just because women want equal rights does not mean chivalry is dead. How would you feel if you got up in the middle of the night, half asleep and went to sit down and hit cold water? NOT NICE.The only other thing I can say about this is If you have a problem with putting the seat down, you have a lot more to worry about than that!

When you need to move your bowels do you do that standing up?
Women don't have the option of standing for any bodily excretion so it is rude for you to leave the seat up.
I suppose you do the cooking? Perhaps your thinking should apply to meals as well. You do the shopping and the planning etc...
It isn't unreasonable for you to act chivalrous and considerate of the woman you profess to care about. Why would you turn it into a competition of sorts.
If it makes you feel better; then make it a rule for the seat as well as the lid to be closed after each use.

I totally agree.I am a mum with 3 sons, a husband and a daughter. All of the kids have now left home. The seat was up a lot of the time when they were all living at home but the guys never complained when it was down. My daughter and I never had a problem putting it down.I don't understand what all the fuss is about. It takes 2 seconds to put it up or down!!!

Many reasons:

* Leaving it UP is disgusting. Leaving it DOWN is much cleaner.

* While men sometimes must use the toilet in a seated position, a lady NEVER uses it while standing up. Since she does not use the toilet in that position ever, you should put the seat back down because it's the polite thing to do.

* When you leave the seat up, you require the lady to touch the nasty toilet seat in order to use it. That is very rude, since she would never touch it if you didn't carelessly leave it up.

* If the lady does not notice the seat in the "up" position, and she sits down, she will fall into the toilet... PLUS having to sit on the disgusting part under the seat.

You would not want her leaving her personal hygeine products in plain view on the countertop, even though that might be more convenient for her. She doesn't want to see the toilet seat up.

Don't be rude!

Because women don't actually pee on the seat, and men do. Perhaps if they wiped their pee off of it, rather than let it sit there and dry into a yellow hairy crust, it wouldn't be such a big deal. I vote for everybody putting the lid down tho.

Because its inconsiderate of the man to leave the seat up knowing that a female sits when using it at all times and a man sits half the time. There is many things each sex can do that can irritate or be bad manners to each other, an a whole lot calmer and quieter existence to just try and be considerate of the other person.

Just leave the lid down as mentioned in the first answer. That way the seat's down, and the woman will have to do some work to get to use it. It's not a battle of leaving it up or down, just leave the lid down and you win no matter which sex you are.

There's several reasons... although I agree that there should be equality to flipping up/down the toilet seat. ALTHOUGH when you flush, please, please put the toilet lid down. I say that because when you flush, bacteria from the pee and poo in the water can spray out and onto things you use like soap and your toothbrush.
But women scream when men leave the seat up becasue there are times at night when we don't think to check the location of the toilet seat and we end up getting our butts wet and that's just gross....

Who cares?
Think about it this way: Do people really need one more thing to argue over? Like putting up (or down) the toilet seat is such a huge deal in the first place?
People are way too eager to start a fight.

Because women are selfish babies and want the whole world to cater to THEM! GO ahead and leave the seat down...and pee all over the seat!
