I listen to the Bible from MP3's that I downloaded off the Internet for free. You can find them from a couple of links on the Free Stuff page @ http://web.express56.com/~bromar/
Listening to the Bible certainly helps you to remember what the the Scriptures say but if you have not already read them for your self and done some meditation and study of the passages then you don't really get all that much nourishment from that practice because you either have to stop listening to think about what you've already heard or you have to keep listening and hope you can remember to think about the depth of meaning of a passage that came and went as it was followed by more.
I wouldn't recommend listening to audio of the Bible as a way of study unless it was combined with reading either before or after or both. You can also download the e-Sword software from that link if you want to do some in depth study. You could listen to a chapter of the Bible and then go and look up passages that you didn't understand all that well and read the original Greek or Hebrew words and what various commentators had to say about those passages.

If you can read, it's not the same thing. Most people wish to listen to the Bible while they're doing other things, such as driving to work. They want background feeding.
I suppose there are some who will actually "Listen" actively, but reading is more work. It requires you to sit quietly and perform some actual work.
A CD on the way to work, or sitting quietly actively reading.
You do the math.

There can be variations based on how the reader is placing the emphasis on a word or a phrase, but remember, there are those who have no other way to learn the Bible. I would imagine that reading it in braille might be more difficult than reading the text for those of us without sight problems. Plus, I wonder how many versions are available in braille?

The CD form of hypnosis/brainwashing is just as effective but it’s way more convenient. For instance you can get your daily dose of brain-numbing while…
-- driving your car to work
-- working in the office (with headphones of course)
-- driving home from work
-- while taking a shower (or bath, spa, etc)
-- while strolling, walking, jogging, golf etc
-- or just about any other situation where reading a book would be impractical

Before it became normal for people to read, the bible stories were told by priests to their congregations. It is still true today. It is the stories that are the important thing, not how you "hear" them (reading, listening, braille)

Yes, it is very good to do it that way... I once listened to the entire Bible (Old and New Testements) just on my comute to and from work over the course of several weeks. It was fantastic!

Well putting it on CD doesn't alter the content to the extent that centuries of revision and translation have, so I don't see why there'd be a difference. A don't know about food for your soul, though.

reading or listening are just ways to get the information to your head
the bible said faith comes by hearing, hearing the word of God
The importance here is that what else after you do know the bible.
Do you put it into practise?
God said he wants THOSE WHO DO THE WORDS not just listener

Probably more like fast food for the soul. Probably not as good for you and you are not getting the nutrition that you need. But it is still filling you up.
