I need to know because I'm supposed to get something from a wishlist for a kid this Christmas, and I got size 5T outfit, assuming it's the same as boys size 7/8. Is it the same? Or am I wrong?

The size usually goes with age. So a 5 year old will wear a 5t. Since kids are different I would go up a size to a 6. Either it will fit now or he'll grow into it. Either way you can't go wrong with a 6.

Why would you assume that 5T is as sames as 7/8?.If the kid is an average 5 year old ,5 t is the right size.If larger 5 year old, than 6 or 7.

A 5t outfit is smaller then a 7/8. My five year old wares a 6 slim and my 8 year old wares a 7.

Typically you'll be safe going up a size. Also, try a size 4 regular in the little boys rather than toddlers. This will either be around the right size or as previously stated at least he'll be able to grow into it.

My son is 5 and he wears a size 6 in clothing. It really all depends on the size of the child. My son is taller than most kids and size 5 is too short for him. It all depends on their weight and height. If you are unsure got to a place that gives gift receipts and put it in with the outfit, that way if it doesn't fit it can be exchanged. I know Meijers and Target both do this, if you one have in your area.

My children have always worn one size bigger than their age. I would get a size 6 for a 5 year old. It allows for some shrinkage too.

My son will be turning 3 soon and because I don't want him growing out of his clothes too soon we will buy him a size 4t instead.
