personally I would ask her if she wanted to join me on a day or night out ,(I would go for daytime) and try to find out if she liked me .If it felt right I would simply be cheeky and say give us a kiss then! I did that and 15 years later were still mad for each other.

Well, I think he'll never really know how she feels til he tells her how he feels. I'd say tell her. BUT before he does that, I'd say weigh how much the friendship means to him, and if it's definitely worth the risk to him, then go for it. This is always a tricky area, but some of the best relationships I've seen have initially come from solid friendships. Good Luck to the guy! ;-)
