I cox my universitys novice crew team and i was just asking all these questions when i joined like a month ago...i have never coxed before.

For a mens team your underweight

in any mens boat the coxswain should weigh 120 pounds, for more serious races you will be weighted and if your under they will add sandbags to you rboat to jus even it out. for womans team a coxswain must be 110 pounds.

I have never done it before and it's like one of the funniest things i have ever done deff go for it. I'm 116 and 5'3" so they said before races i have to try and drink alot of water. I can't think of anyhing more fun then getting to watch the boys in my boat cause they are all so good looking and ripped out in there spandex LOL!

Good luck.

Good answer from Randi Megan. I am 5'3'' weigh around 108. I cox a bow loading women's four-with. As far as your weight, you can choose to gain five or six pounds, or you can just eat a really big meal and drink a lot of water before weigh-ins. That's what I do. I hope you enjoy coxing, it's great!

super coxswains are uncommon, and genuinely properly worth and bigger 10 or 20 lbs, in the event that they are in a position to inspire a collection with out pissing them off, steer a right away course, and command a boat properly, plan a very good approach for a race, shop the oars and oarsman rowing in cadence with precise timing on the capture and end. Too many coxswains forget approximately approximately technique faults that could advance from fatigue as a race progresses, or forget approximately approximately oarsman stepping into early or late. stepping into late, not pulling their weight. stepping into early, donning out early as they attempt to tug the boat on my own. Get the timing dazzling, you have a speedier boat, admire your group and their guidance understand the thank you to invite for greater, and you could properly be a astonishing coxswain. We raced bow 4 vs stern 4 in college, stern with a 118 lb cox, the bow group with a rookie yet relaxing one hundred sixty lb cox. Bow beat the pants off all of them morning, yet we could consistently not have been waiting to. We had good technique, he stated a right away course.
