I mean yeah you buy it for a cheaper price than going to the store but the artist still doesn't get any money so its a form or stealing. And you're promoting it as well by giving money to the theif.

The Bible says follow the law of the land. Which means... well... the law. So should Christian download free music (illegally of course) or buy dubbed cds?

I personally do it myself but if I really like the cd or feel the artist is annointed or well wit their craft, I buy the cd so they make profit because I want to hear more from them.

But if I dont like it I'm like oh well i won't support or want them to be successful over something if I feel they can do much better or music is just not their thing.

GIVE ME FEEDBACK

If its a cd that I can really get into the spirit with I feel the artist is doing their job as a Christian and using thier talent and gift for God's gratification. So basically I buy the cd when the heart is in it and you can tell it right off the bat because its sincere.

The only time I won't buy it is if it seems more about the artist than Christ and their doing it for fame instead of for God's works.

No, buying a bootlegged Cd is worse because not only are you stealing but you are involving and supporting others in that immoral activity. Jesus said that sins must come but woe be to that person through whom they come. If a Christian allows an unbeliever to tempt them into sin Jesus said it was better for that person to have a millstone tied around their neck and be cast into the sea. So how can a Christian who is supposed to love others allow someone to suffer that condemnation?

There are exact artist that I might purchase the C.D's from, in particular if there's alot of hype coming from the album, and if I fairly just like the artist. For illustration, the entire predicament with the Kanye vs. 50 Cents album drop. In a predicament like that I might purchase Kanye's CD, when you consider that I think he speaks approximately extra in his track, as opposed to the common greenbacks, medicines, hustle, females. I have bought the final 2 C.D's. Sticking again to the query, I down load while it isn't mostly an artist I might concentrate to at the steady. However, there are occasions that I might as a substitute retailer my cash (institution pupil, and per thirty days price range) if I are not able to get the CD for $10 dollars (I can also be low priced). I used to be under no circumstances partial to purchasing bootleg albums until it is a combine CD or whatever. The final album I introduced used to be Double Up. I used to be a little disenchanted when you consider that it wasn't his excellent album. There are approximately three songs I like at the entire album.

Piracy is up to you. but according to the bible your allowed to make a profit on the goods you sell but its wrong to overcharge them for the goods. In the UK an average CD costs about 12 - 15 pounds. In China the same CD costs about 2 - 4 pounds. Most of the CDs you buy in the UK are made in China. Then the question is if a CD in China resales are 2-4 pounds and the same CD in the UK resales at 12 - 15 pounds, even if you say transport and import taxes are 5 pounds, then the UK music companies are jacking up the prices and ripping us off.

Complicated morality issue, however I do believe that ANYTHING that goes out over public airwaves or internet then becomes the property of the world in general and should be able to be copies and replayed for ones own use.
I for one am not going to attempt to follow every law of every country and culture of the world. Bootleg music and video is legal in Malaysia, so I shouldn't buy when there? I think not. I am going to use common sense on what world laws might apply to Christianity and which do not. (i.e. head chopping and hands' severing is out ).

I never buy bootleg products. I respect the artists that made the CD too much to steal.

Jesus said, "Give to Caesar that which is Caesar's" (I am paraphrasing). By buying a bootlegged CD you are denying the earnings to the artist and the producers to which they would ordinarily be entitled.

I'd say technically buying bootleg versions is *WORSE* than downloading it yourself.

either way the one who deserves the money is being deprived of it, but buying the bootleg.... someone makes money off of depriving the rightful people of their money.

and if you download it yourself its alot easier to rationalize it, lol.

Yep...

Piracy is piracy...

and the law makes no allowance for RECEIVING STOLEN GOODS - it's as illegal as distributing.
