My trusted methods.

1.While you are going to sleep think something very different.Ex: what u r going to do on the week end, cricket .The subject should be something which should not make ur mind think & should be very casual for which u dont give much importance.

This will break ur regular thinking abt say work stress or money matters or relationships etc etc.Everytime these stressful thoughts come to ur mind cut it at the first place.

2.Drink water /Milk.

3.Listen to soothing music before u sleep.Ex. Hindustani or some flute type.I keep the timer for 30mins of music & by that time 90% of the time i would have fallen asleep.

---The key to good sleep according to me is the mind should not be thinking abt the worries/negative thoughts while u r trying to get sleep------

Hope this helps

I would advise you to not take medication or pills of any sort at first.....they can become an addiction and you'll only be creating a new set of problems for yourself.

A lot of ppl here have recommended yoga & meditation....trust me, these exercises really make a difference in how you feel. Maybe you can't sleep coz you're not tired enough. So becoming more active might be the answer. I've gone thru what you're saying a few times. I know its not easy to think of anything else when you have these weird thoughts....but I still keep my eyes closed and try to concentrate only on breathing, regardless of whtever I'm thinking. It'll calm you down and you'll doze off eventually.

I have this same problem with my thoughts keeping me awake, but I don't know if my solution will work for you.

I'm a writer so when I'm trying to go to sleep I write a story in my head, repeating the same scene over and over in my head until I like it and then I'll go onto the next one. Eventually between scenes I fall asleep.

Another way is to play a movie you've seen a thousand times with the sound turned down low. You start watching it but since you've seen it so many times and you can't really hear it very well it ends up putting you to sleep.

Dreamless sleep is not a good idea. You need REM sleep to get the full rest for the brain and body. However, if you need to unwind before bed to have peaceful dreams or dreams you won't remember in the morning, do yoga or meditate. Those two things really get you in touch with your body, and they're much healthier than pills and all that chemically-altered medicine. Just try yoga and meditation, it can't hurt.

It isn't possible, everyone sleeps, so everyone dreams, you can sleep and wake up not remembering your dreams. Ask ur doctor, see what he suggests or why ur having these thoughts. But if you want my 2nd advice, confront ur thought instead of avoiding. Maybe that's the only way it'll go away, if u constantly have these thoughts, maybe ur subconscious is trying to tell u something important that u have to know, but because u stay awake, it isn't able to tell u. Try completing ur dream, see what it's trying to tell u. Sometimes ur dreams can be really obvious to u, since it's ur own mind. Ask ur doctor first though, before u try anything too serious.

It sounds like racing thoughts the same thing I have, have you tried to see a psychiatrist? they are the only ones that can prescribe you anything to help with that. If you dont have any insurance the things that helped me to get to sleep was Tylenol PM, that is the best thing I can tell you also if you have a friend that has any seroquel that is what puts me to sleep now but only take 25 mg. the first time trust me you will be out

Make sure you don't eat for several hours before you go to sleep. Another way is to do specific relaxation exercises where you pretend you are a rock with waves of water crashing against it. When thoughts come into your head you let them crash against the rock with the waves and disintegrate them. It takes some practice to do this but it does work. (part of acting training)

Do a google search keyword insomnia. Ambiencr.com is a websit that I checked for tips and I have found thos tips extremly helpful. As far as what you dream about, we usually dream about what was on our mind right before we fall asleep. There are meditation techniques that you can try to help you sleep and have nothing on your mind before you do doze off. That may help. Good Luck!

Medicine is not solution for your problem.Meditation may help ! try cool music, read books/magazines/news papers etc. as well while going for sleep try to keep away all thoughts just try this once.Only blank screen is there in cinema hall before the movie starts.Firstly one dot of light appears on the screen & then it shows you colourful pictures. As the movie ends ,again the dot appears & screen becomes blank.Try to make your mind like screen in cinema hall before going for sleep allow only dot of light on screen of your mind & try to make it blank (thoughtless) it is quite defficult but possible after practice.
