Living one day at a time,
enjoying one moment at a time:
accepting hardship as the pathway to peace;
taking, as Jesus did,
this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it;
trusting that you will make all things right
if I surrender to your will;
so that I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with You forever in the next.
Amen.

How about....

"God grant me the faith to believe that even though I can't change a single person You can turn even the worst sinner into a saint and by prayer and the sharing of your Word I can be a co-worker with You in making an eternal difference in the lives of others."

1 Timothy 1:15Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners—of whom I am the worst. 16But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life. 17Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

Isaiah 55

10 As the rain and the snow
come down from heaven,
and do not return to it
without watering the earth
and making it bud and flourish,
so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater,

11 so is my word that goes out from my mouth:
It will not return to me empty,
but will accomplish what I desire
and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

James 5

16Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.
17Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. 18Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. 19My brothers, if one of you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, 20remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death and cover over a multitude of sins.

Sadly, the prayer of serenity has never really encouraged me. It's more of an 'end of my rope' sort of prayer. It's only when the prayer is granted that I can find peace.

If you want to encourage other Christians, offer them one of God's promises.

Yes... interesting title. I'm not sure if people realize that if there is no question mark on the end of their title, one is automatically added on. Makes for a catchy headline, though...
God bless.
