STANDARD ISSUE ANSWER; One of my parents smoked, Three of five of the children smoke, and almost all their children smoke(their spouses don't). Its whether you are raised in the company of a smoker more than any factor.

It can. Asking whether "religion" plays a part in smoking is a really, really broad question. What if your religion has cultural roots in smoking? (Like hookas in some Hindi communities.) Or what if your religion is totally against doing any sort of unnecesary harm to your body? (Christianity is the most obvious religion that says that.) So really, yes it does, but it's encouraged sometimes and shunned other times. Be more specific-- which religion did you mean?

a million. Religion is less difficult to give up than cigarettes. two. Religion - itself - is not unsafe it is the extremists (of any faith) and yeah - I consider faith is beautiful effing cool. three. Ummmm once more, I do not see any damage. four. I'm now not angry by means of Muslims or Hindus or Confucists- and whilst I used to be an atheist I wasn't angry by means of theists frequently. five. I are not able to talk for all faith, however I realize that during my faith no unmarried individual - now not even the chief(s) of the faith - make a decision what to do with the money.....all of us do. 6. Wrong - the practitioners put it on the market. 7. Right.......it comprises faith, and discriminates in opposition to atheists? eight. The majority of folks I realize are non-people who smoke. So that is improper. nine. Again - the faith did not kill or harm the ones folks, the extremists do. 10. And once more - now not all faith proselytize.

many religions see the body as the temple of the soul.
smoking is harmful to the temple . most people and religions would not be pleased if you were to harm the temple.
no Christan would go to the church and paint silly tags or slang on the walls. yet many Christan's smoke.
why Christan's smoke is not different then why anyone else smokes the drug is very addictive and the pressure to try it or to use it is just the same for a religious person as it is for anyone else.
prayer faith shame and guilt may reduce the number of smokers among the religious persons but as of yet most of us have yet to have even the faith as small as a mustard seed.

My culture, family, religion, brain tells me not to smoke. Religion plays a factor, but when smoking is condoned by everyone you know, you just don't smoke.

I don't think most people in the western world relate smoking with religion.

Yes, it definitely plays a factor. It really depends on if you desire to give all to God. I use to be a really heavy smoker before I came to the alter and surrendered my will to Gods will. Today, I haven't smoked in twenty years

Well, sometimes I get the feeling right-wing religious politicians are just blowing smoke up my ***. That's the worst form of second-hand smoke!
