Jobs are granted to those who can do something for someone else for which the someone else will pay you money for your productive time spent in his business and a job well done while you are there. 95% of success in a job is showing up on time. Believe it or not, many people find this difficult.

Being handicapped is not supposed to be a bar to getting a job unless your handicap impacts negativley on the safety of yourself and others while you are at work. There are no blind airline pilots, are there? Your seizures can be controlled by medications, can't they? Being deaf is a problem because so many jobs require that people be able to hear instructions or answer to questions. I don't know if you have a valid EEOC complaint. You'd need to consult with them to be certain. Good luck.

I have been there just like you. I have had trouble getting jobs all the time. The only difference is that I am a healthy white man. I could not blame any one but myself.
What I have to say is going to surprise you.Do anything you can to get a job. The most successful people out there are not the ones best able to get results but the ones that are able to manipulate the system.
Do what ever you can to get the job. You would be no better or no worse than all the movie stars and aerospace engineers that avoid lay offs. It is nothing personal, it is just business.

Yes, it is difficult getting a job if one is not young and in perfect health. Lots of people who have health issues, or age issues have trouble getting and keeping jobs.

Discrimination has not decreased, it is just that employers are more knowledgeable about how to discriminate but do so legally, by hiding it better. I have even seen articles in magazines telling managers how to legally get rid of older and employees with health issues.

In addition to that, most of the entry level jobs that people with issues used to hold are now held by illegal immigrants, because the illegals are healthier and will work for next to nothing.

The good jobs don't go to people with disabilities unless you're extra extra good. Now if you look at Burger King and McDonald's...they'll take you..and even that's not a given if you can't keep the pace, but most everyone else wants people who can keep up with the norm, don't like people who might miss too many days working. People who tell certain people to just go out and get a job aren't being realistic.

Well I am sorry to hear about the trouble you are having with your disability. But I would complain through each employer through your dept. or labor. Also I know in Jackson Mississippi they are seriously looking for help through the Americorps/Habitat for Humanity program?
But good luck and Take Care!!

Did you try Burger King? I saw a deaf worker at BK in New York City.

Good luck in your job search.

Go to your neighborhood legislator and tell them your problem. They might be able to help you if you keep in touch.
