Lately, I have been feeling kind of depressed because my friends have kind of ditched me. I'm not really sad that I have lost my old friends because we don't have much in common now anyways; it's just that I'm finding it hard to make new ones. I want to be myself and for people to like me, but I havn't really figured out who I am yet. I am kind of a quiet person around people, unless I know them well. How can I tell when I am being myself, and How do I make more friends? (I'm a freshman in high shcool)

I know life sometimes sends you curves that make you question and become depressed. The thing is that this may be a time when you need to be alone for a time, to really know who you are. First and foremost, love your self and learn to accept your own values and desires. Then it is easy to love and make friends. Once you see what you have to offer and begin to share that, everyone will crowd around you. Hang in there girl, you have great things in store for you.

You're a great person, I know. You just wrote & said it. Be yourself. That's the most important. If people don't like you, oh well, that's their problem. I'm sure you all will get over it and move on.
Find something that you like to do. Swim, track, hockey, chess club, school paper...whatever you like. Try it all...if it doesn't work, try something else..it doesn't have to be something that "Everyone" notices, it just has to be something that you like to do. Do you like to write? Do you like to play basketball? You're on the computer, so do you like video games? Which ones are you best at?
Don't get discouraged, you seem like a very intellectual person. Go for what you like and you'll get it!!!
Take care!

sounds like me back when i was a freshman...try doing some extra cirricular activities, join a club- you'll be amazed at how quickly you will get friends. plus they'll actually have something in common. but remember to be yourself- thats the most important thing

I would suggest you talk with a counselor- and ask them to help you with techniques on how to learn to like yourself and learn who you are. I would suggest keeping a journal, getting involved with more clubs and organizations in school if you can and want to. Maybe volunteer at a local hospital or somewhere to get your better involved in the community to give you opportunies to get around more people. Good luck and have fun.

When you do creative things for yourself it let's one know you are yourself and to make friends, get involved by communicating or doing things together. Invite them over sometimes or ask for their phone number and chat with them sometimes. This will help you to make friends and also help you to be yourself.
