Your right on the money Susan.
Many immature people come here just to make fun of others. They need our prayers, not our hate.

I too am a Catholic(though I dont attend church as often as I should..I guess that makes me a hypocrite but thats between God and I alone)Let me see if I can shed some light on your question and I'm sure it will tick off some people, but oh well.As Catholics we like most Muslims believe we will have to answer for our sins(even if they are forgiven)because we still made them(the decision to sin)the Born-agains,(and theres others but I dont want to get that into it),etc, think that if they give thier hearts to God and Jesus, there done, its a done deal and they can do no wrong in Gods eyes here on earth,To the athesists this is crazy because they are under battle with these Zealots(dont get me wrong, any way to God is good) but they force there beliefs onto the world and come off more hypocritical than I do(not saying there are good ones out there in the fellowships of Born-Again)WE as Catholics have had our inquisition and learned from it,We dont try to push an agenda as a whole( We might make a suggestion but we leave it at that,we dont preach salvation to others in that way,we let the individaul decide, much like a alcoholic makes a decision to get sober,he(the individual has to decide) at least thats my opinion and how I approach the world and peoples right to beliefs, and I can understand the Atheists points of defense even if I dont agree with them

Unfortunately this behavior is not a new thing. It has been going on since the dawn of time. As a christian, and because you are a christian, you believe in a free will and choice. Others do not believe in this tenet. In some nations you are persecuted for not believing as they do. It is a nobel thought to believe like you do but you have to remember that not everyone agrees that you should not force your beliefs on others. I don't use the term "force" lightly as some may in here. We have to remember that law itself, any law, is forcing the will of some on others. For example, some may think that marijuana should be legalized, I do not agree, but the law says no and therefore is attempting to force the will of government on society and enforcing it by penalty if you do not obey it. God instituted government amoung men in order that anarchy would not reign. But some laws are better than others. Religeon and how we relate to our Creator, I believe, should be a freedom enjoyed by all of humanity. And since in America, where I live, it is a freedom, no one should make laws prohibiting me from worshipping as I like. Some people in this forum take a more cavalier approach to having someone "force" their religeon on you. Merely standing your ground and telling another you believe they are wrong in what they believe and stating reasons why, is not "forcing" my beliefs on anyone. It is an open forum and the participants are voluntary so people should remember that. It's a discussion forum about religeon and spirituality. To say that someone is "forcing" their views on you in this type of forum mocks those who have truly had others force their beliefs on others, like in nations with Sharia law, where women are not allowed to be outside unaccompanied by men or in nations where christians are persecuted for their beliefs. I speak as a christian so I am bias towards christianity but you get the jist of what I'm saying I hope.

I came to this site not too long ago for the same reasons you did and I totally agree with what you say about all the hate. I ask serious questions and get negative feedback from Athiests. I'm not here to put down anybody or any belief even if I don't agree.

Every religion agrees that we must respect other people because they are also human beings like us, not because we agree with what they believe or what they do. Nevertheless, if you believe that something that someone is doing is wrong, then you would judge them guilty. That doesn't give you the right to be disrespectfull to them. You don't have the right to punish someone for their wrongdoing. That's G-d's job.

you are absolutely correct about backstabbing and running down other people's faith and various other abusive barbs.
However, as a professing Christian, you have a mandate from the Lord to vigorously defend the Christian faith.
Live peaceably with all men in as much as lies within you,but not at the expense of the truth.

Christians are not to judge the actions of non-believers. That is Gods job, and He will handle that in His own way.
We are however supposed to judge the actions and behavior of other Christians. We are our brothers keepers, but htere are very specific ways in which we are to do so, and it must be squared with Scripture.

Do not falter, for GOD is with you and this is what is most important.
Every human will let you down but GOD will never let you down. Like John Wayne once said, Courage is being afraid ,but saddling up anyway.
Jesus is the truth, the way and the life!
"Hear O Israel, the Lord is our God, the Lord is One"

The general rule on here seems to be the "my way or to hell with you" rule--stick around, you will meet a lot of people who, like yourself are looking for knowledge, answers and sharing, but be warned, it's not always the nicest place to play
