No your bf is wrong. It's a mental illness that needs to be treated by doctors and specialists, and managed like any other chronic illness like diabetes or epilepsy. I don't think he means to hurt you or insult you even though he is. I think he's just trying to help but he doesn't understand the causes and reasons of the disease. Because it's source is in the mind/brain, it can't be seen like say, a malformed limb or a cast on a broken bone. Because he can't see it, he can't understand it and thinks you just don't want to eat. If he loves you, he'll get himself educated on anorexia nervosa and find out how to help you in a healthy, productive way. If he's stubborn and closed minded about it, don't be too hard on him because people who don't have a mental illness are afraid of mental illness, especially in our generation. But if he makes your illness worse, definitely do what you need to do to take care of yourself. It's an illness like diabetes, treat it as though your life depends upon it.

Thats something thats very hard for you to throw away,
it's been apart of you for most of your life, so this illness shows up there and here in your life,
and hubby can probably notice that as you may have your patterns and cycles.
He probably doesn't understand it enough and just thinks to himself or out loud "eat" as it's an every day normal thing for him and people round him.
So he doesn't understand that it's more to it than just "eat" and "being foolish".
Maybe you should get help if you are ready for it as you are at a great age to just enjoy things in life, family and maybe grandchildren apart from this illness this addiction that you have had more than half your life.
Let go!.
Take care
Tanya

You can't just drop it like a hat. It takes a lot of time and constant work to be able to, and I'd recommend finding a strong cognitive/behavioral psychologist or someone who specializes in eating disorders. Good luck it's a hard battle i know. Surround yourself with as many encouraging positive people as you can :-)

A person can drop the bf faster than the disease. It will take counseling & effort on the sufferers part to be cured of this on a daily basis. Such like alcoholism or any other disease of its kind.

No, you can't just drop it and get over it. You need a good therapist, nutritionist and support to help you with this life-threatening illness. I hope you get the help you need.
Best wishes.
